I've had the car apart now for a couple of weeks, and have finally got all the parts to put it back together. I have a question in regard to the head gasket orientation since they line up either way. One side of the gasket has more exposed stainless and some little red markings/sealant of some sort (flame away for my ignorance), the other side has only stainless around the rings. I'm not sure which way to place this gasket so please help me out, red toward the head, or red toward the block?. Thanks in advance.. Robert

LOL, the genyouwine Land Rover gaskets have the red stuff! I'll look tomorrow and report back if no one else has

I was wrong the genuine ones have red I just opened the set I have. Red side goes up. Even says "top" on mine.

Thanks for the replies, I finally got ahold of someone who knew that the red went up. No markings of "T" or "TOP" anywhere on the damn things. I got the heads back on, intake, rockers, but will be needing a new gasket up on top of the fuel intake? or whatever you call that(thin metal gasket between the fuel rails).
