Anyone know this person/company? I emailed him and he restated that the birfs are NEW and from Toyota. He had no explaination for why he states they are 15% better than OEM. I thought NEW from Toyota was big bucks? I got one at a good price for 79-85 mini so I will get to see it first hand soon, but he also says he sells longs on occasion so I would like to know if there is any knowledge of this person/company out there.

Don't know, but a good guess would be someone associated with CV unlimited who makes birfields and other CV joints and is near Columbia, SC.

Notice the same picture on the CVU web site:

A guy named George answered the phone the other day at CV UN. Check out this thread on mud.

Thanks for the mud link Mark. Yeah I got the axle, thanks. It's nice to have a clean part to deal with once in a while.
Now once I get all of my parts on it I'll have to bug you about how to setup the proper angle for the spring perches ( I know I saved the info somewhere from this board but I'll be darned if I can't find it).

I'm going to start on the tube fenders next week. Hoping to get the thing back together to go to Bend Or Bust this year.

So these deals maybe true or is it more likely that they are too good to be true?

It's definitely CVUnlimited. The email I got for an answer the second time is from gstuckeycvunlimited. So I guess they are just a good deal.

It's official, it is cvunlimited. I got the birf today. invoice says Stuckey Bros. Parts Co. CV Unlimited. part # CVP 8701 Toyota Newfield. Came in a CV Unlimited box.

base of bell reads EMPI TO - 128 1223 if that means anything to anyone.

Very bottom of base has like a flower pattern like it was heated up or something, pattern follows bearings.

inside bell there is the # Cf53

What happened to those NEW and from Toyota birf?

Can you tell if this is a Toyota birf?

those are aftermarket replacements that Bobby Long was using as well as All-Pro for a while to treat. If it has an EMPI # it is one of those. New Toyota ones say birfield on the bell. anf NTN. Those there are not the best, but at 38 bucks run with it. If you want a good birfield. Look no farther than Longfields.

Cool, thanks for that info. Yeah, I figured for like $40 total with shipping I couldn't go wrong. Better than the plain stockers I have. I will probably jinx myself, but I have only ever broken one birf so for now I just can't fork out the cash for the Longs. When I wheel more and if it becomes an issue you better believe I will have Longs. :D

Funny, I specifically asked if they were rebuilt and was told they were not they were new and from Toyota. Oh well, good price for what it really is.

Wow..those do look like CVunlimited axles. I can tell since I went thru 8 of them in 2 months. Enjoy your new Butterfields :D

Here's a better pic of the bell end. It's been heat treated somehow. Well considering I didn't even pay as much as most people want for stock 20+ year old birf's I am fine with what they are. I just wanted eveyone to know exactly what they would get with this deal.

I figure I don't break enough stuff to justify $410 for birfs. Like I said, I am probably jinxing myself but I haven't broken a birf in years and I went through Rubicon with my FJ40 SBC 350 with about 300hp, SM420, stock 3spd tcase, loaded to the hilt that kept inverting the springs which were UNDER axle 4", while on 37" boggers. Oh yeah, fr/rr cheapo lockrights and carburated to boot, so I was starting in bad situations each day. I didn't break a thing. I think how you treat your ride and attitude play a big role in breakage.

So take the info I gave for what its worth. Low price--average product. Definitely not Longfields, but better than old 20+ old stock. I don't know about anyone else but for under 40 bucks I got just what I expected. Guess when I get $410 just lying around I will pony up for some Long's :flipoff2:

They do use all new parts, if that makes you feel better.. They aren't re-builds... But they're not straight from Toyota...

I'm fine with what they are. I jsut think he was vague and did not answer my questions fully, if at all, because he is passing the product as being a little more than what it really is. For what I paid I'm cool with the product. :grinpimp:
