Hey All,

Well, my cage is STILL at the fabricators (I guess that is what I get for having them do it on their time) I just got these pictures of the cage partially compleated and need your input on what might be better... especially on the front hoop. Mind you, this is about half done, and the seat brackets which will be part of the cage aren't installed yet. A cross brace behind the seat is tocome too so I can mount my belts to it. This, with the seat backet, is being made by Sterling Manufacturing here and there are going to be offering it to others as a kit for pretty damn cheap so how would you make it better!!!

Looks good to me man. Have you checked out the leg room near the clutch pedal yet? I know Nolen's is similar to that (sort of) and it fits really well.

Just put gussetts everywhere. and build it the way you like it! It should be very strong.

Oh yeah, you planning on putting any other supports in the rear cage between the center loop and the rear hoop on the top?
Near the fiberglass section of the roof

Yeah... it is going to have two more braces in the rear and 4 spreaders in the front. Lots of gussets, "Oh SHIT" handles. They wanted me to get some input on this so they can get it right. FWIW, Sterling is the company that makes ALL of the crap for every major vedor and they have been hit hard by the 911 deal. This is why they are making IMHO, nice cage to sell direct. Plus, I figured if it could pass the PBB nobody would have a problem with it:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

well you definetly want to put some kind of support under the rear fenderwell and tie it to the frame with the flexong and all your fenders will rip out and a roll over could push the cage through. on my design i went with a front halo not a hoop to help with trinculation. looks good though with your seat bars in there will really stiffen it up. and add gussets where possible. look sweet:D

There is also going to be support tied into the frame by means of another 1/4 inch plate sandwiching the fender then tied to the frame.... Does that sound reasonable???

I dig the support between the back and middle hoops. Looks almost like the stock roll bar. Cool!

Shane,

I really liked the bends in the front part of the cage Txcruzr posted a few days back. Jim H. also has a similar front hoop on his 40. We've got a bender over at Jim's with 1.5 or 1.75 inch dyes, so I hope to start my cage next month. :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Shane,

Make sure you run your outside front spreader out to the edge of the front and rear hoops.

Unlike Mace, we have trees down here and with a rig as tall as yours you will find yourself leaning into trees and you want the outside spreaders to slide the tree down the length of the truck and not get hung up at the rear hoop.

Check mine out and see what I am talking about

trees... Hmmm

Oh yeah, aren't trees just firewood before it grows up????
