CJ5 is better in every way, older the better. The old ones use carbureters, not that foofy :rainbow: fuel injection crap that takes a rocket scientist to figure out. They also had a shorter wheel base, and we all know, the shorter the better. The only down side to the oldies is the :rainbow: round headlights, we all know square is better, but it's a livable trade off I think. Make sure to shy away from power stearing. As soon as you flip over on your lid, the fluid runs out and you can't steer.

They sure don't make 'em like they used to ;)

buy a YJ, usualy they are cheaper than a CLASSIC ROUND HEADLIGHTED JEEP :barf: and all you have to do is SOA some 33s and a locker or two and your ready :smokin: plus EFI :flipoff2: is the shiz nit :smokin:

And don't forget how they make the springs real short and strong so they won't fatigue or break.. and how the frame flex's so well so that the tires will stay on the ground, and how the clutch wont disengage when you are all twisted up so you don't have to have courage to go through the hard stuff. The Jeep is going to do it for you :)

Yep, luv the older Jeeps :)

id say try to find a cj-7 with a v8 and a dana 44 in the rear. if you get a yj you will haveto get rid of the dana 35 just to run 35s. also if you get a cj-7 it will have a d-300 transfer case witch is alot better than the np-231.

Remind him that the new jeeps are "trail rated" from the factory that means he wont have to do any mods to wheel it. Just make sure he looks for the silver "trail rated" badge and he's good to go. :flipoff2:

rhymes with cheap-runs like "bleep"

Toyotas kick AZZ

If he must get a heep, fuel injection rules. It doesn't take a rocket scientist-hell, I'm a junior college drop-out and can label, plug and unplug wiring well enough to keep my shiat running.

Lets see....
CJ-5 CJ-7....
Civilian Jeep 5, Civilian Jeep 7
Military Description: quarter ton truck
AMC called it the renegade

Tell him to consider a wide track axles (I believe starting in 79), then buy an old cherokee and steal the 4.0 EFI out of it for the CJ.

Wrangler.....
square headlights D35 rear end shall I go on....

And make sure he has tow hooks so when we take him down the trail we can strap him over the rough spots.
My little CJ-5 now has a locker in the rear on the D44, with 4.27 gears, an ARB on the front, hiem joints moly steering rods..35s
Now I need a steering box support

YJ
1) Stronger Frame
2) Fuel injection
3) more ready to accept full width axles
4) better creature comforts I know that sounds gay but..... :flipoff2:
5) you don't have to fawk with a rats nest of wiring and theyare usually in better condition for cheaper.

what now B!tches? :flipoff2:
