I just bought a Defender 110 Hi Cap today. :smokin: I had not planned on it...but I could not resist once I saw it. And if you knew what I paid for it (less than you will pay for a stock 1995 D90 these days) you would have bought it also. Built last year from all new parts brought in from the UK. Incredible build quality. Galvanised frame, stainless hardware, 4.0 motor from a 1997, Salisbury rear axle. I went over the truck with the previous owner for about an hour. There is nothing you can fault and a lot that you can applaud - such as the hand built box for the ECU, the rubber mounts between the frame and the body, the upgraded interior, and the spare "summer" windshield that allows you to pull the entire top and go topless with just a bikini top for the rain. It might as well be a 2004 Defender. It runs strong and drives super tight. I have a couple low res images I'll attach. I will take some better ones on Thursday when I take posession.
When my wife finds out I might be sleeping in it...but I don't care.

But, aren't they owned by ARB?
Sweet ride man, it's worth sleeping in.

Nice going. Dont tell anyone over on D-web or D-90 that you have one or they will start crying about how illegal it is and how cutoms is going to show up at your house with crusher and crush it right in front of you :shaking: . If you realy want one you will find a way, wether it is building one from parts or otherwise :smokin: . Good going and have fun.

I don't go on D-90 or D-web for exactly those reasons. I am considering registering the truck as a home built. I have the receipts for everything and the motor was sourced domestically. I can go down to the NH registry and have a State Trooper check it over and assign a VIN. I am not sure how that would affect the value but it would be a completely legal truck in the USA from now until the next ice age since the truck will never rust away.

You should really stay off the net entirely.
Edit: I will play nice.
If I were you I would remove the pics and delete the thread.

JL how is your truck any different from the one above? How many of the parts are still sourced from the vehicle that had the original VIN?

Mine is 100% federally legal. Over 15 years of age. Exempted from having to comply with all applicable CMVSS and MVSR. Provincial requirements only, which, amazingly, do not mandate federal compliance. It is an existing vehicle that has been modified and does not require re-certification because of age. But the base vehicle is legal, the mods are legal (federally).
His is not a legal base vehicle. I am not very familiar with FMVSS stuff. It's pretty close to CDN but not identical. Feds in US have more leeway and if they believe on reasonable grounds that the vehicle was smuggled in illegally and they find out about it... That is why I say delete thread, delete pics. I don't care about it, it's not in CDN, nice truck, but you are being stupid by posting pics on the interweb for all to see.
