Replacing bearings and seals on my front axel, if I just
re-use the original shims will the axel shaft be centered properly?
Anyone ever use the SST shown in the manual? Looks like you could duplicate it with a large bolt or rod and some spacers?
WDUT?

If the old shims arn't in too bad of shape I would reuse them, it's not like they can get mashed out of shape. :D
You can probably just reuse the same shims, or use the same thickness ones out of the wiper seal kit. I have the SST, it's moderately useful, but not worth the money ($120) to own, you don't absolutely need it. Seems like every time I rebuild one and check it with the SST, I end up with one thick shim on both top and bottom.

Can you post some pics of the SST? I am thinking of trying to duplicate it ( just to say I did it) with a large bolt and some spacers, I can get the part that fits in the tube machined out of
aluminum pretty easily.
thx
