: Steering Arm question

I am going to be putting my FJ-60 Disc brakes on the front of my 71 Pig soon and I have a small delima.

When I parted out that FJ-60, it had Hi Steer arms on it which I sold.

I have since collected the steering arms off a mini truck to complete my conversion.

Other than the tie rod end differences, is there any other difference?

I know the drivers side arm has the "banana curl" off the back for the mini truck drag link, but can I just saw that portion off?

Someone must know....

Nolen,
I had welded arms, just took them off and put on OTT hysteer and one ton balljoints:) When it was the other way I had lc arm on the bottom ,minitruck on top with a cj pitman arm. It had really great turning radius. If I remember right keep the minitruck arm shorter on top and level. That seemed to help with the angle of the balljoint on the drag link. I hope that helps. Tom

Sho 'nuff. You just cut off the J arm part for a 40/55/60 type arm.

There is even a tech page on POR about this.

from what I remeber the minitruck arm is the same except quite a bit less beefy. the fj60 arm is pretty stout.

same arm, the 'J' piece often breaks off over here, if the truck has been wheeled hard, and you cang et the arms for free, cause nobody wants them, and i have done it, it'll work with anything that has the discs, 40/60/75 just cut it off level

Nolen,

I'm sure the 60 series stuff is beefier
I can take a pic of a pair of 60 arms that are off if you wish to see them and email them to you Tuesday morning
I still haven't got a red star yet.
