LMAO......
Well...?

Actually, I'm probably slapping all the Ford running gear from the Dillinger truck under it with about 10 inches of lift. I just paid out $500 for that high steering....so I'd better justify it (this is what I'm selling it as to the wife) :D :D

It is possible to fit 31 inch tires under a Comanche, but it takes a special technique. Actually, you COULD go larger, but you'll gain a greater advantage with a wider tread.

First, remove all four rims from the truck and mount the tires. Rubber found in the local junkyard is sufficient for this application. Lay the newly mounted tires under each corner and lower the jacks until the truck is resting on them. It's better to use as wide a tire as possible as this will give you greater clearance under your truck to allow your houndogs to crawl under it with less trouble during thunderstorms. Too much clearance, however, will let your wife have a better shot at them with a broomstick when they steal her potroast from the stove.

If you don't have houndogs, get at least four before performing this modification, otherwise you'll run the risk of having a family of opossums move in or worse- polecats. HTH!

That's funny as hell.
Well the wife and I finally got the ranch with the acreage, barns and riding arena we wanted... We close on the 28th...

I suppose you are doing well out in AZ..
I hope things took off for you there....in a good way.

I blew the 2.8L up on the way home in this truck....told the seller that I would. I could tell by the way it sounded when I test-drove it.
V8 conversion experts opinions needed! No Ford bashers need apply....the Ford fits better, and has MPI... :D

Good to see you on a BBB again man... email me backchannel at: wdwmkr@speakeasy.org
(we're going back to dial-up and giving up the always on DSL........living in the sticks and all... )

Update on this old thread....

The truck has been fitted with the Ford 44 and 9" rears, and currently runs 8" of lift in a spring over, custom coil pockets to adapt for width, and the stock radius arms (although I'm gettin' really close to cutting them and moving them back on the frame about 12")

This truck's cherry bed was removed and a custom stepside was installed.
New paint, lotsa work on the new bed and suspension...
It took first place in the Jeep category (jeep= not XJ, TJ, CJ or YJ) at the Shenandoah show n' shine show in Front Royal, Va on May 8th.

:flipoff2: Looks sweet I was considering the same flat fender look for mine as I just got done with my full width swap. After seeing yours I know I'm gonna do it. I plan on using my exo as the supports and just flat fendering out to it.

Here's a pic of mine

Screw the V8 jsut much unneeded weight and hassle, go find a doner xj with AW4 and I6, a few mods with injectors, map, intake and exhaust and you will have 210 hp or more and better low end torgue. Plus and engine that will sat 400,000 miles.

Update yet again... Nice Manche, btw...

The truck was fitted with a 4.3L and auto transmission last month.
I did so after my last aquisition (Safari van w/ that combo) pulled 4000 lbs. for 150 miles without a complaint and still managed 19 mpg the whole way.

I'm pulling the bed again, because I was given a Chevy unit that I can chop down and refinish to allow the side spares to tuck in behind the cab more.

I was cruisin for another post when a search brought this one up.....
