I have a 1990 Chevy 1500 with the 350(2WD), i was wondering if anyone might know the stock gear ratio for this truck. Thanks!!

3.23 or 3.42

I believe 3.73 was also available. The best way to tell, assuming it's definitely stock, is to check the codes in the glove box.

I had 3.73 in my 93 pickup

My 89 k5 had 3.42's I believe that was most common.

look at the rpo label in the glove box. it should have a couple of "G" codes
the first on is going to read like..GU2 2:73, GU4 3:08, GU5 3:23, GU6 3:42. the other codes for the C/K & R/V truck is GT4 3:73, GT5 4:10. if it says G80 right behind the axle ratio code its a Posi.

You can jack up the rear end and mark a spot on the driveline and another on the tire with a piece of chalk or similar. Slowly spin the tire and count how many times the mark on the driveline passes by. Pay special attention when the tire is close to making 1 revolution because at that point you can estimate if the driveline hase gone another .42 or .73 turns after the first 3 revolutions. This little trick is a bit more helpful when there is a larger gap between your tow ratio choices, but you should be able to figure it out this way in case you aren't able to find the codes.

That's the same as saying "my '89 K5 is red, and it's pretty common.....so your truck should be red also.......".

No, its like saying most trucks come with 350 (80%) but some come with a 305 (about 20%), so there is a good chance it is a 350. It helps to know what was common as far as what was offered for a certain vehicle. If
