Does anyone have a D60 from Dynatrac w/ their hi-steer on it.
I ordered the axle w/ the hi-steer, but I heard that it isn't a good set up.
I heard That you have problems w/ bump steer.
any input?
TIA

Bump steer has nothing to do with the axle itself. It is only determined by how your suspension is and how it moves in relation to your drag link. Think of the arc your draglink moves along as the suspension cycles. If the point between the knuckle on your axle and your pitman arm gets significantly longer or shorter as the suspension goes up and down, this will cause the wheels to turn in and out without you acutally turning the wheel. This is what they refer to as bumpsteer. So if your draglink follows the same arc as your axle, say with a track bar parallel to your draglink, you will get no or very little bumpsteer. The only way an axle could have any effect on bumpsteer would be if the ball joints were super worn out and somehow allowing the wheels to move around, but in that case I think you have bigger problems than bumpsteer.

Now that depends. I did not catch what you are driving, but if it had an inverted Y draglink/ tierod setup with a proper pan bar for that setup, moving the drag link to the top of the knuckle for a highsteer would cause this problem. The tierod does not matter, but if the drag link now moves in a different arc as the pan bar then you just created the problem you described. This could be cured by moving or raising the pan bar mount to put them back in the same arc, but by simply bolting on the highsteer you would have caused bumpsteer. Does this axle come with the mount in a different location, or is it in the stock location on the new axle? A wider axle will do the same thing also, but usually not to such a great degree. It is all about the angles.

I ran their hi steer setup on my TJ for about 2 years. It was outstanding, both on and off road.

I have had my Dynatracs since 2001 with no steering problems of any kind. The draglink and tie rod are nearly parallel... the draglink will just barely touch the frame at full compression. The high steer arms use 3 fine thread 9/16" bolts with tapered cone washers. They have never loosened, not once.
