Hey everyone...My buddy showed up today with his Scout that he finally got put together and running. He knows "people" and had a set of Tera Low gears installed for test reasons. I don't know what(if) he paid but I was asking him why he was testing them when they have been out for so long. He reminded me that he has a 727 and that they currently don't make them for this application. just letting you know that it should be long before they market them.;)

Does your buddy have a 318 Mopar in his Scout? I talked to Parts Mike today and he said the gears are avaliable.

I've heard the gears are now available also. Jack O'Brien also makes gears, much higher quality and available in 3.15 and 3.6, but twice the money. I'm considering working on a D20 doubler, anyone interested?

I would spend a little more and buy an Atlas before I spent $1,500 on gears for a Dana 20.

Um, Tera Gears are typically around $750 not $1500. I think that Jack O'brian's are around $1500 though.

I know; I was referring to Jack's gears at $1,500.

Tera did make a limited run of 727 -> 3.15 bull gears at the beginning. Made some for the 4-1 Dana 300 sets, too..

If I had a 727 I would quit worrying about Tera gears for your Dana 20.

LOTS of options out there folks.

4-1 and a Jeep 300 n' tailhousing.

Or a Klune-V and Jeep 300.

If you're not into rebuilding your 727.. I like the idea of Mr.Scout's $1800 crawler box myself.

Yeah, $1800. But it's what.. 8" long? And gives you the 2:1 reduction.. puts you into Atlas territory with a stock Dana 20 behind it at 4:1.. and you get the intermediate 2:1 low option.

Not low enough? Bronco gears in the Dana 20 (since the crawler "looks like" a T19 on the output end) for 2.46:1.. giving you a 2:1, 2.5:1, and 5:1 low..

Still not enough? You could drop the $700 on the 3.15 Tera gears for the Dana 20.

Now you have 2:1, 3.15:1, and 6.3:1 (same as the low-hole in a wide T19)

If 2.45 * 6.3 * 4.56 (or lower) at 70:1 isn't low enough with this oft-touted "torque converter advantage" how low would you NEED to go?

Throw O'Brien's gears in the second 20 if you must..

I'd like the doubler setup.. but I'm also wondering if the Tera 3.15 set wouldn't be enough for my needs..

6.32 * 3.15 * 4.56 (new running gear) is 90:1...

Or with the Crawler Box and 2.46 gears in the second 'case.. 141? Do I need that? (to the tune of $2500)..

Then again, it's only money, right? I don't need a house or anything like that.. :D

I didn't think you could use the bronco gears in a Scout D20.

Would you use the tera gears even with all of the problems people have had with shreading them like they're made of plastic.

I've heard of plenty of people running Bronco gears in Scout 20s.

You can't run them behind a 727 tho' - the bull-gear to make it work doesn't exist.

Well, I guess that's one way to keep the front '44 from blowing up, isn't it? :D

I hadn't heard too many problems.. but then I've never really been listening for them either.

Hadn't really considered the Tera gears until recently..

hey Tom, don't forget the 3 (or so) diferent rations you can get for the Creaper Box.... I think they go to 4:1, with a 3-somthing in there.....

Only about twice terra gears... about the same as a KLUNE, or an Atas...

I thought the alternative gears were only available with a stick in front of the Creeper.

Same problem as any Dana 20 behind the 727.. you need the right bull-gear.

But since it looks like a 4spd on the output end, you can run any of the aftermarket gearsets in the second Dana 20..
