I assume you mean the shackle flip kit brackets. Dont think it matters what axle you have, more like what vehicle you are putting it on...I have the sky kit on my 78 bronco with a 14 bolt. It is a solid piece , much thicker and stronger than the stock hanger. Gave me about 5" lift.

Go with the SKY! It's worth the CASH.

He asked about shackle REVERSAL. For the FRONT of the truck.

Do some homework, SKY has both.

 Tell that to the guy with the 14b at the top of the page. Sky makes a shackle reversal kit, which is nice for folks with no welder or no skills. They also make a shackle flip kit which is just a big waste of cash.

its not a waste of cash for people who dont know where to buy metal and dont know how to weld. good for you if you can, but i like the peices that i got. good quality for the price IMO.

I couldn't agree more. For the $125 those brackets cost, it's not worth the hours of cutting and welding on the factory brackets that were crappy to start with. And when the home brew shackle flip is done it's still going to look hillbilly. Easy bolt on over dirty fab work any time.

It sounds like you guys are either still confused about the terminology, or ignorant of the distinction. Either way, confusion can be explained away, and ignorance is curable. :D Allow me to explain:

This is a shackle REVERSAL. You're looking at a Ford front frame horn. You can see where metal has been welded to the frame in order to create a solid mount. The shackle is now at the rear of the spring. Notice, reversal == welding. Sky and ORU sell a shackle reversal kit that will bolt to the frame as well. Good products if you don't have the skills or willingness to build your own.

This, on the other hand, is a shackle FLIP. Notice the four bolts holding the bracket to the frame? Bolts == no welding.

Sky also sells a shackle FLIP kit. It also bolts on, and can be used instead of Ford brackets. I view it as a waste of money in most cases. Firstly, the kit doesn't provide a new shackle. The OEM shackle is the weakest point in the assembly. It doesn't take much of a hit to buckle one.

Secondly, the bracket is unnecessarily beefy. I mean, you don't need an engineering degree to realize that using a 3/8" backing plate to bolt to a frame that's less than 1/4" isn't a great idea. I have seen a stock stamped frame bracket buckle once. Fullsize Bronco, did a bit of a nose stand, came back down, landed on the RR shackle. The shackle buckled, the frame bracket started to buckle, and one of the bolts holding the bracket to the frame sheared. And that was a hard hit. A little bit of help from a come-along pulled the bracket back into place, new bolt, new shackle, good as new.

Now, what would the failure mode have been if we'd been using one of those Sky brackets? The bracket probably wouldn't have buckled, but the next weakest link is the frame. That's awesome.

I'm still confused. I "don't know where to buy metal." Can you help?

I thought about the Yellow Pages, but that seems like a crazy idea.

The lift that you gain from the sky brakets is better than the stock one and at $125 is cheaper than new springs.

THAT is some solid tech, if I've ever seen it. When given the choice, I always opt for "better" lift.

Thank you, and keep up the good work.

If I was worried about the frame I would just box it in and be done with it. Plenty of weak points on a truck to work on. Mine is my np 203 so I bought a np 205 to replace it. If you don't have a welder and don't know how to use one buy one and learn because in this hobby you will need it. :grinpimp:
