Hey guys ,
Just thought I would ask you guys which power steering conversion is the bestfor the sammy 87 model and where to get it , what donar car to get the pump off of and box.

Just power steering on my fj40 and was a real job , my sammy is the rock crawler , kick ass you know , well of course you do .

86-89 toy 4x4 gear box and pump or the celica but I dont remember the years:smokin:

if you use a toy ifs steering box it can come from an 86-95 pickup.. these are stronger boxes than celica boxes...

I just converted a 'kik box to hydro-assist and that's what I'm gonna runin my rig. The hydro-assist will take most of the strain off of the box allowing me to run bigger tires.

Where can I find instructions for converting to hydro assist? Did you use a farm implement type cylinder or something else?

I had mine converted by The Lake Rat on the board. DO a search for him and you'll see that allot of people has used him to get their boxes converted. I'm going to be running a 1.5" bore 8" stroke ram for the steering.

I'f you are going to fab up everything anyway you could try a saginaw box. On the sami it feels just like hydro assist but make sure you get a matching pump, the yota pump wont cut it for very long.
