: Cruzah seats
TxCruzr 02-17-2002, 10:49 AM I am needing a (2) racing seat for my cruiser and need some help/input. When we first bought a seat, we got the Corbeau Targa RS. When it arrived it ended up being too tall (the bottom seat cushion), I could not sit in it mainly because of the big steering wheel. I plan on getting a grant, but not untill I get p/s. I am looking at the Corbeau Forza seats. The man at Corbeau said that it is the lowest of their seats but since they can not be returned, I don't want to rush into it again. I already have the Simpson 5pt. harness, just need the seats. What do you guys run and about how much were they? They do need to be some what comfortable since I will be driving to school everyday, and then a hour to get to Twin Buttes for off-roading, then another hour drive home...
Thanks
Joseph A.
Here is a picture of Corbeau's Forza and thier web site...http://corbeau.com/
i eventually want to run those seats, they are fairly inexpensive and look really low. Your biggest problem could be making mounts that are low enough andstrong enough. I say go for it
TxCruzr 02-17-2002, 10:54 AM The mounts are not a consern since when Big Dawg Cus. Fab. built my cage, I had them add seat mounts to it. And their very strong. I need to get ahold of Corbeau and see if they'll find a way for me to test fit one before buying...
Thanks
Joseph A
Tracknod 02-17-2002, 11:36 AM Not that corbeau isn't a good seat, because it is, but you can do better. Here is a picture of my Tenzo Ralley that I had recovered. Side by side, you can't tell the differance between the Corbeau or Sparco and the Tenzo. Everyone that has sat in my Tenzo thinks it is VERY comfortable. In fact, I had to put a set in the wifes car because she liked them so much. The other fact is that it is ajustable and about 1/4 the price of others. check them out:
Tracknod 02-17-2002, 11:37 AM And recovered in vinyl. The Shop that did this does tons of seats and thought that they were $1000 seats that I had imported because of the quality. Said they were identicle to other $$$ seats that all of the ricers import here.
nuclearlemon 02-17-2002, 04:49 PM nissan pulsar seats...$40 for the pair...it pays to know the folks at your local junkyard
TxCruzr 02-17-2002, 05:27 PM Those are real nice seats Tracknod...I really like that red one. The only thing though is that the bottom cushion is to thick. There wouldn't be room for my legs between that and the steering wheel...that seat looks thicker than the Targa RS. I'm looking at all companies, not just Corbeau. There really the only seats that look close to what I want/need while still being affordable, just don't know if they'll fit...and you can't return them  thanks to that my brother now has a new Targa RS in his jeep...:mad2:
FJSRULE, do the nissan pulsar seats have cut outs near the top for 5pt. harnesses? Thats one of the things that I need in the seat. I need to check out the Toyota Celica GT seats...friend of mine has them and they have the cut outs and I think they'll fit. I need to check on those too.
Thanks
Joseph A.

So what the fuck is wrong with having NICE seats in your rig? :flipoff: :flipoff: Let's see... once all is said and done I should have close to 15k-20k into my rigs, so why would I want some crappy $20 junk yard seats that who knows what has been done to them. If I believed in that I guess my purchase of 38 swampers was stupid too, because I could have just gone to the junk yard and pick up some firestones for 40 bucks. PUUULEEEESE!!!!! I guess nice seats are just for parking lot rigs because lord knows, when I'm on the trail I want to be uncomfortable. If you have the money, spend it... I want to be able to want to drive my rig and sit 10 hours behind the wheel being comfortable, not worrying about sliding around. Rugburn, I guess your sentiment probably hold true to everyone, especially everyone that has sat in my seats and wished they had them in their rig:mad3: :mad3: And yes... my rig will have a cupholder, probably a pair. :flipoff: :flipoff: :flipoff:

Hey Txcrsr....
You want to get it right the first time correct... Well you already said you are going to change out your steering wheel once you put in PS so if you are going to spend cash on seats, plan that into it. Nothing sucks more than having to do things two and three times, when you wish you would have done it right in the first place. So you might have to squish in for a couple months... but when you get it done right, you will be happy. Those non reclinable seats can become a pain in the ass in the long run considering you have to get used to driving in a racer position. Then. if anyone else drives it (AKA wife, girlfriend) they have to drive at the same recline rate. Something my wife and I don't do. Your seat bracket looks similar to mine and I would have no problems with the wheel.

smack 02-17-2002, 10:42 PM car seats are just that, they are made for cars not extreme 4xing or any 4xing for that matter, they are made with plastic reclining gears and very light weight crap, i agree do it right the first time not the 5th
rugburn 02-18-2002, 03:09 AM Relax and take a chill pill.
Do you really think this forum is the place for passive aggressive lashing?
I found your post a bit too pretentious.
Almost as though it should belong on the TLCA mailing list.
Eat a few Xanax and post in the morning dude!
:D  :rasta:
woody 02-18-2002, 06:15 AM I run the Corbeau Baja SS seats in my truck. Very comfy. Had them about a year and would get them again. We've got 3-4 in my club running them now.
cruiserrg and I went together on 2 pairs and ended up paying $300 a pair for them.
BTW: I've got somewhere's around $10k in my truck and it still looks like a piece of shit. heh heh.....

yeah, you posted a link to some ricer warehouse you bought them from, still got it? my HD crashed and dumped 4 years worth of bookmarks!
Panzer 02-18-2002, 01:35 PM Give us a link brother.
I hadn't heard of Tenzo until I saw your post but I like them seats.
Tracknod 02-18-2002, 02:55 PM For those interested, here is where I got my seats:
http://www.manhonda.com/store/honda/index.cfm?level=26&CFID=555041&CFTOKEN=53841916
Txcrusr, if you are going to get a non recline seat look at the DTM on that page. I've seen it at a speed shop here and it looks like an exact duplicate of the corbeau it was sitting next to but 50 bucks cheaper. If I'd place my money on it, Tenzo probably has their seats made by the same manufacturer and just has their name stitching on it. Mine have metal reclining gears too.
Also, if you aren't in a hurry to get them, watch ebay under Tenzo or Racing seats. There have been a couple pairs that went for under 400 bucks especially from the member teamuss.
As for rugburn thinking I'm pretentious
Land Crusher 02-18-2002, 04:34 PM another option
get the electric seat adjustment pedastal
from a ford ltd.
it is made for a large bench seat
some of the older one used all metal gears.
I put one in my fj40 its a luxery
but why not...
ps I put it under a toyotA bucket seat
rabid 02-19-2002, 05:21 AM A few thoughts...
I've been running Celica GT seats in my truck for about 5 years, and they suck. There is not enough padding or suspension in them to make them good for a truck, especially off road. These were out of an 85 or so GT, and they make your kidneys hurt. Not to mention the raised little wings on the lower seat that smack you in the nuts half the time you get in or out of the truck.
I think that fiero seats have cut-outs that will work with a harness, don't they?
For short to no money, check out volvo leather buckets. Got my set, (with ass heaters!!:D :flipoff2: ) for free, in good shape. They have a pretty low cushion, and are very comfy, and can bolt into your exsisting seat brackets with some drilling.
They look really great sitting on my floor tight now....
I have some friends who run them and swear by them. I would take the $$$ for custom seats and spend it on some really nice covers (maybe wet okele?) to put over the volvo seats, and replace them every 5 years with new junkyard seats for $40.
Just my $ .02
