Quit buying them from summit. The "mini" starter is just the newer Nippondenso starter that was stock on most trucks since 88' or so. Go get one from Napa with a warranty. Will probably be cheaper too.

Check your starter out! Hook a set of jumper cables up, ground terminal to the case, and touch the hot wire to the power/solenoid terminals. Have it in a vise, or have someone holding on to it when you do it. If it spins up, then your vehicle is the problem.
In that case, check all of your grounds...ie, battery to engine, battery to frame, battery to body, engine to body and engine to frame. Also, make sure your starter switch is working properly, and read the wires for the starter.

The truck turns over now and won't start because of the coil or a timing problem which I'll have to fix this week , the mini starter works fine now.

You could always snatch one out of a junkyard. When it dies, you'd have a core for a new one. Extra bonus is that since the starter is smaller, you can get it out of a truck with headers a lot easier.
