I just totally rebuilt my 78 CJ-5 from the ground up and everything is working great. But I have some mystery wires that I cannot figure out what they do. I installed a new wiring harness.

I have two black wires coming off the wiring block in the engine compartment (Left Side of the wiring block 2nd and third wires both black connected via a two prong adapter that is just hanging)

and a red and white wire running from the wiring block (top left and top right of wiring block) that are run back by my tranny but not plugged into anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

the black ones go to yer blinker fluid warning light, the others are for the factory power windows...




















really now, what wiring kit, replacement factory or aftermarket? And do you run all the acc. that were stock. Radio, etc.?

That explains that! I do not have a washer fluid warning light and I do not have power windows! Nice to know they are there in case I need them, I wonder why they only run down the drivers side and not the passenger side as well??!?

I had Reuthers Jeep install the wiring harness here in St. Louis... I do not know which one they used other than they charged me $500 for it installed.

The only light I cant get to work is 4 Wheel Drive on my Speedo Cluster now. The light is there, where does the wire go from the speedo cluster? Down to the Transfer case I would assume, right?

I just went out and looked (at night) and the brake lights and reverse lights are not working. Must have been disconnected when we pulled the tranny and engine to put in the new ones.

I'll have to mess with it when it is warm and sunny out tomm...

Ill let you know what happened!!

Any idea how to get the 4WD light to work? It is plugged into the dash, but I cant figure out what makes it go on when it is in 4wd and where it plugs into on the other end.

I think(!) the 4wd light wire is coming from the TC .
