I did some searching but didnt find too much. Can anyone tell me the size diff between FJ 60 front springs and Fj40 springs? I remember Split Pea (Dale) had them on his old cruiser (Ant), but havent heard much about other people using this setup.
I am going to go with Fj55 length springs from Alcan made for my 40 in the rear, and am looking for other good spring options for the front in addition to waggy springs. This is for a SOA with Fj40 axles.

thanks!
Dustin

Hello Dustin; I am surprised you remembered the black cruiser, that cruiser had fj 55 front springs all the way around. I used those springs because I did not have to change the spring hangers and the spring pin is in the center of the spring. You want fj 55 rear springs in rear. or go with 60 springs, but I am sure you will have to change the spring hangers {longer springs} I did. GOOD LUCK, :) my new cruiser has 55 rear springs, and stock front 40 springs in front, with NO shackle reversal, shackles are in the front they work great SOA. :) see ya

saweet. I have 40 a set of stock 40 springs already, so then I guess I should just settle down and use the ones I have for the front. I need to order the Alcans for the rear still. They will be 55 springs, but weighted more for the 40 (whatever that shoudl be???!).

Your cruiser (both Ant and your new one) are what I want mine to do. I love this pic of you coming down the sluice-

thanks man. See you at Rubithon. Got a V8 and springover in the works at this very moment. Locker already in the rear a few weeks ago. :grinpimp:

The 60 REAR SPRINGS ARE ABOUT 4 INCHES LONGER (fawkin caps) than 40 rear springs. Allmost all of that is in the front part of the spring. I run them on my 40 and I moved the front hanger forward to keep the rear end in near the stock location. the bushings are different but can be made to work.

Awesome Manny. Thanks! This is good info.
I saw a post from Phil Johnson in one of the searches I did, but he was only able to paste the html of this table, and after about 20 minutes of trying to reformat it all, I gave up :)

cheers-

OK, from the chart Manny linked to, it actually looks like FJ60 front springs are shorter than FJ40 springs. So, I guess I won't be using those.

For future reference, and assuming this chart is correct, heres the lengths of the springs in inches.. It doesnt list where the center pin is in relation to the hangers though.
Series - Front / Rear
FJ 40,42 - 42.12598425 / 42.12598425
FJ 43,45,47 42.12598425 / 49.80314961
FJ 55 - 42.16535433 / 45.47244094
FJ 60,62 - 41.65354331 / 45.66929134

Dustin if you look closely at the picture you can see my shackle are in the front they are a double shackle also, the only problem I can see with this set up is that the spring tries to bend when I climb a very steep rock, but I think I have solved the problem. I am very happy with this set up. pm you. :smokin:
