Don't forget that for a 3" holesaw you are going to need at least a 1/2" 'wristbreaker' drill

you can strip the gears out of a 3/8 drill if the holesaw catches an edge.......... just FYI.

3" holesaw for the front of the crossmember, 2" for the back.

Same here, get a good one used a cheap one for front took 20 min. Got a decent one from home depot took 5 min max for rear.
Cut holes right size and sleeved it w/ 2 1/2 pipe to strengthen it.

Milwaukee 1/2" Hole shooter, best $120 I ever spent on a drill. Fawker tears my wrist off when it catches tho.....but t's taken more abuse than you would believe. Just used it again yesterday, relocating my radiator a little bit forward. Got a bruise on my wrist to prove it! lol

And get good hole saw "blades"....cheapies don't last. And get one of those pin-style connectors and the threaded-end blades. MUCH nicer, and they work with your future tubing notcher as well....heh heh

I used a torch.

I highly recomend adding a brace from bottom of
gear box to the other side of the frame.

made mine useing a chevy 350 conecting rod
as a clamp on the box.

This might be a bit over kill but we cut out a 4" section and weld in a piece of 1/4" wall squar tubing, works great and is as bullet proof as your welds are!

Those hole shooters sure do twist up something good, I sprained my wrist by not paying attention for split second and when that fawker caught (i.e. locked-up) it sent me spinning in place of the drill.
