Can anyone help me decode this VIN #?
AA0AEAC105243
It is off a Plymouth Trailduster I found in a local salvage yard and I believe it was built between 76 and 80. I couldn't find any year information on it. It doesn't show up on Carfax or any of the Mopar VIN decoders I have found on line.

Either you read the numbers wrong or you got the wrong numbers.. The Trail Duster S.N. should start with either PD1A(74-78) or PD1A(79-80 2wd) or PW1A(79-804wd)

The tag contained 2 lines of stamped information.
The first line:
Make: PLYMOUTH Model: PW1
The second line:
VIN: AA0AEAC105243 T.O.N.: PU205301
I might be heading out there again today so I'll verify.
All I really want off this thing is the flat top knuckles. If it is 79-80 will those work with a D44 out of a Waggoneer?

yeah, they will work, but you need to keep everything on there, meaning the hub, if you wanna call it that.. the unit bearing... basically from what i have heard it cannot be used with hubed type axles... although I wanna know if I can mill down the lip and if I did, could i... anyone know?

Ok, now I feel dumb, I clicked repily thinking my hanes manual was right here, but all I can find are my 2 Clymer manuals... with no luck... My best advice... look at the grille (hoping it is orignal). If it just has 2 headlights, it is a 75-76. if it has to head lights and some big old signals next to them (on the inside)... it is a 77-78... if it has 4 headlights it is a 79-80... this is 98% of the time.. some 79 and 80's had just 2 headlights, but I think it was only in the 3/4 ton trucks... now... the 74's had 5 on 5.5 wheels and drum breaks.. the 75-76 have 5 on 4.5 wheels, disk breaks and I believe are identical... the 77-78's are somewhat changed.. you can tell by looking at the steering box... 72-77's the steering box sat on a bracket that bolted to the frame.. while 78-93's had a steering box that bolted directly to the frame... 79's are just like 78's but with a different grille... the 80's had a little different interrior... now as for the front axle... as far as I know.. the 5 on 4.5 dana 44 is almost identical from 75-80, while in 81 they went to 5 on 5.5 and disk breaks...
thats about all I can give ya right now.. I am gonna keep on digging for my manuals though.. it is bugging me now.. hope I helped some.
