I JUST DID A SKACKLE REVERSAL ON MY YJ . IT HAS 4.5 R.E. EXTREME DUTY SUA .WHEN BRAKING I EXPERENCE A PRETTY GOOD NOSE DIVE , I HAVE REGULAR SHOCKS( NOT GAS CHARGED) WHAT CAN I DO TO COMBAT THIS PROBLEM? I UNDERSTAND I WILL HAVE SOME NOSE DIVE BUT I THINK I'M EXPERENCING A LOT, ANY INFO IS GREATLY APPRECIATED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uhm, less pressure on the brake pedal? :D

j/k - you're right, you WILL experience nose dive with the SR. I thought mine was bad at first, but either I've gotten used to it or it's gotten used to me. I run RS9000's in the front and usually keep them set around 2.5 to 3. I have hydroboost brakes too, so it's not like I can't MAKE it dive. :D

Try the 9000's, you will love them.

And please God, don't let Bob/CA see this post. He needs no more ammo for his "anti-SR gun"!!!!!!

The question is, why did you do a SR in the first place?

You have opened a can a worms, and the trouble has just begun for you my friend.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.:D

What's the angle on the shackles? The closer to vertical, but yet not quite vertical, the better. The more the lay back at static ride hieght the more dive you'll get.

Never mind Bob, he's got SR envy :flipoff2:

Run the 9000's, that way you can adjust the firmness of the shock. When I first got mine together, my shackle angle was too much and it had bad brake dive. I moved the shackle hanger back a little, now brake dive is minimal. My front shackles are at about 15 deg., works great.
good luck.

4-wheeler1 ----has the front driveshaft fallen out yet? If you don't articulate it then you should be ok. A 300 dollar long travel DS will fix that potential issue.
But as far as your Brakedive goes.....really stiff shocks or really stiff springs might control it but the ride will kill a daily driver. Toyota's answer to this is a torque rod. It seems to work. I have a Yota and it comes from the factory with the shackle in the back.....I finally got around to doing an UN-reversal and it brings a smile to my face the IMPROVEMENT it has made. :) http://dreamwater.com/zuk/sr.html let us know what you come up with. Good luck.

Or, you could just get used to it. It's not gonna hurt anything, and you're not driving a new sportscar.

I had one in my YJ, sold the YJ, bought a CJ, won't do a SR again. PITA

I was SR and I changed back because of the dive (and the other reasons mentioned) other than the approach angle can't see any benefit...

I did a SR on my 65 cj-5. I havn't driven it yet, to many other things to do, and no time. I look at this way I sure as hell couldn't make it any worse. I would hit the gas and have to steer to the right, hit the brakes and had to steer to the left. All of this to keep it striaght down the road. It would also track down the road. I know that was other alignment problems. But with the narrow softride springs, the fore mentioned reasons not to do a SR, are outwieghed by the benifits. Works great on some set-ups, works bad on alot more.

ems, it sounds like you've got bigger problems than your shackles.:D

Do a SOA with flatter springs. I did it. No more dive. I haven't found anything I don't like about it yet, other than the fact that it moved my axle forward and inch or two and I may have some clearance issues to work out with the high steer.
