: Optimum Temperature range for Power Steering Fluid?

Anybody know what temp. range is acceptable for PS fluid? Specifically, is engine/radiator temp too much? I want to use my stock, in-radiator engine oil cooler for my PS fluid. Hottest I've ever seen is 210°F.

Also, for those that run hydroboost, where did you plumb in the cooler? Should I just put the cooler on the low pressure side of the PS box, or should I re-route the low pressure line off the hydroboost so that it tees into the low pressure line from the PS box before it goes through the cooler (and just plug the extra inlet on the PS pump)? I am adding hydro assist.

I used an aux auto tranny cooler, smallest one Napa had for my system. I haven't ran it yet, but will be soon. I toasted the lower seals on two PS boxes because of the heat and locker. I suspect this should keep the temps in a happier range. As far as using the auto cooler in the RAD, you got two problems. The rad will help keep the PS at a consistent temp, but that may be higher then with an aux cooler or without. What temp does your motor run at, that is close to what the PS fluid will be at. Second, drain back. The fluid level in the rad will be higher then the reservoir, with drain back you may overflow the pump reservoir. I mounted my aux cooler below the reservoir.

The motor has a 190° thermostat, it is a very mild small block and has never had cooling problem (I have a diesel radiator, which is larger than the gas one). If it heats up, the fan clutch locks, and never goes over 210.

I've heard the drain back thing mentioned before, but I'm not really concerned about it. My hydro boost is already mounted high, and my pump has a (stock) remote resivior that is mounted pretty high (cap is about even with the top of the fan shroud). The temp thing is my only concern.
