: East Brady Pics
Dain Bramage 02-18-2002, 04:40 AM Anyone have any of the pics up yet? I was too busy trying to find an alternator for the 'Migo to get to my pics. Thanks for a fun run guys...i'm definitely game for going there again...just not going to dunk into that pit again until i get the 39's on. hehehe
Can you believe NOONE has an aftermarket alernator for my truck? I'm pissed :mad2:
I limped all the way to my house...when i pulled into the parking spot, the truck just died. It was kinda funny watching the truck lose things as i drove. First the speedo...then the tach...then the lights...but the motor kept going...then the tranny 'puter didn't have enough juice to know when to shift. had to force it to second and do the rest of the trip in 2nd gear.
ah well...the dealer can eat one now...that is what aftermarket warranties are for eh?
Mel85CJ 02-18-2002, 06:13 AM How chopped up was it up there, everytime we go up there it is different 'cuz of the logging. Last time we were up there they had drained the pit....

Dain Bramage 02-18-2002, 06:39 AM it was pretty fun...i had to bug out early due to the alt, but from what I rode (and held my own against the HEEPS :flipoff2: ) i had a good time. And it's pretty close to my house too...so i'll be spending more time up there. I don't know the names of some of the obstacles, but there is a little hillclimb in "the playground" that was kinda fun. I made it pretty far up there, but not all the way. there was a lot of logging going on...but the trails seemed to be intact. my favorite obstacle was just past the playground, just a steep descent into a pit and back up. noone really failed it (did the dakota finally make it up? I forgot :( ).
I know one thing for sure...my buddy mikes Dakota is too freekin long for the trails around here and i definitely RUINED his fiance on wheeling for the rest of her life. i thought letting her drive would have been a good thing. she froze on a little hill climb ;)
So i took over and HIT IT. little bit of light headedness on the topside and she was done. forget it. and if Mikes leash is as tight as i think it is...he won't be wheeling the dakota anymore anytime soon hehehehe...she has a vested interest in that truck and i could see her wincing in the rearview every time he got a custom pinstripe from some of the brush. :D:D:D
Dain Bramage 02-18-2002, 06:42 AM update on the alternator...dealer only part,
389 bucks!!! plus the freekin 50 dollar core, and overnite shipping

 Damn, dude
I was gonna head up there, but Belyup said it's pretty easy. I'll check it out one of these days...
SHINTON 02-18-2002, 08:15 AM Wow...I saw the Subject heading East Brady! I used to live like 4 miles from there up close to Rimersburg. East Brady (& Jim Kelly...duh) used to come over and whup us BAD in football.
Where is the 4x4 area in East Brady at? I used to hunt all over that area, there is a ton of strip mines just north of there that would have some killer stuff. I think the coal companies still owned some of them so I dont think they are developed. I know the motorcycles all went in there, ton of trails.
Man....havent lived there now since 1985, brings back memories! :emb:
From the boat ramp, go up stream, on that road, turn left and go up then turn left into the woods.
It's very easy ride. except for "THE PIT" which is a short but deep and nasty mud hole. It eats everything that isn't locked/locked and swamper'd with a lot of Go pedal. (notice, I said ALOT of go pedal)
Brings a new meaning to the words.
GET IT !!!

Not for me then... I hate mud. When I had my YJ with 31's back in '95, I loved it, because I'd get the fawker all sloppy, drive around, and think I was hot sheeot. "Look at me, I'm all muddy"
Now it's just a pain in the ass :D
Indyguy 02-18-2002, 09:52 AM as long as the casing is not too big, you could fit a large GM alternator in place of the little Isuzu one. you would just need to have someone that is good at fabbing stuff make you a new mounting bracket. you could probably take that same $389 and have a 150-200 amp Alt custom fitted to your truck.

1. Sorry to hear about the cost of the new alternator. Wow!
2. Although I didn't have my camera, Steve from Triangle was taking pix. If I see them on the Triangle site, I'll let you know.

Mel85CJ:
It was my first time there, but it didn't seem too chopped up. The mud pit was definitely not drained (as JasonB can attest). The second place we went (about 4 miles Northwest of the boat dock) was a lttle more fun. Steep powerline with rocks at bottom and a pretty challenging hill climb later.

Mel85CJ 02-19-2002, 07:08 AM Red Glenn,
To give you an idea of how much logging went on up there, here is a picture of the "mud pit" 2 years ago:

We bought a parts Wagoneer off a guy who lives right there along the river & adjoins the property that everyone wheels on. He said that the gas company is logging that area & then when they are done logging, then they are under agreement to sell the property to the local quarry operation (which is just around the bend).
The other part about 4 miles away - I've been there, but don't know the story. Theres some decent trails in Chicora, which is on the way if you come up Rt. 8.
Are you gonna go to Paragon in April? www.hrja.org/paragon2002.htm

Dain Bramage 02-19-2002, 08:52 AM do that in daddies toy and then we can talk Rob :P :flipoff2:
Glenn 98 TJ 02-19-2002, 09:43 AM Mel:
I wonder what's gonna happen when the gas company sells the property to the local quarry operation. Hopefully not another closed wheelin' area.
I'm definitely in for 'wheelin in Chicora (assuming I'm voted in as a member). I'll be there for the March 3 meeting to find out.
I'm going to pass on the Paragon trip, unfortunately. Don't want to eat into my "winch-fund".
