: Ho-made lifted TJ motor mounts

This is probably nothing new, nor is it "hardcore," but I thought that posting this might plant some seeds in others' brains as to what they can do with some scrap metal and about 4 hours of their time.

Since I didn't want to drop the $70+ for a set of M.O.R.E. lifted poly mounts or $15 for a set of Rusty's spacers, I made my own by simply welding/bolting some 1.5"x3" box tube to the bottom of my stock mounts. Yes that's right, I managed to lift the motor 1.5" versus the norm of 1".

Because of the "built in" stud on the stock mounts, I had to do a funky arrangement on one side where the stock mount gets bolted to the box above where a new stud is welded inside the box. The other side is a simple through bolt with a sleeve welded inside the tube to keep it from crushing under preload.

looks good, I like the 'build it, don't buy it' plan!

Nice :D

But it goes against the whole "Bolt-on boy" thing I have going on. :D

C'mon now, I had to use some bolts in this "mod." Welding the block's ears to the frame rails wouldn't be wise now would it? Or would it?

Less energy absorption (no rubber mounts) would lead to more torque transfer to the rearend for a better holeshot. Dude, I might have found the plan for putting those pesky coffee can tail pipe ricers to shame at the light.

Dude, thank you! :D

Not sure if my comment came across right. I was bustin' my own chops :D... With me it's open box, bolt on.

Only because I don't have a garage or welder available.... It's not a lack of interest in fabbing my own junk :)

Welby, not a problem brutha'. I followed ya'. For the sake of being bored as hell, I figured I would throw up another "pad" and flap my jaws (flex my fingers?).

FYI, another week mod I did this weekend was to countersink some holes in the stock TJ tranny mount plate so that I could attach it with FHSCS fasteners. While this has nothing to do with the motor mounts, both the lifted motor mounts and the countersunk fasteners are all necessary before I zap up a flat tranny x-member/mount. I had to go to FHSCS's because the OE hex head bolts were the lowest hanging point in the powertrain. Not no more though. The shiny nuts and bolts holding the tranny mount to the plate are also "mods." I pressed out the OE metric weld studs and zapped in some standard sized pieces. The less metric, the better.
