Make Sure It Has Motor Oil In It!!!!!!! Not Transmission Fluid!!!!!! My Friends Did The Same Thing As Yours Is And I Went And Looked At It... The Guys That Rebuilt It Thought That Since It Was A Chain Drive That It Was Supposed To Have Atf But It's Not! I Changed His And It Was Fine,, If You Dont It Will Ruin The Large Bearings That The Shaft Rides On!

The 203 should have straight 10W-40. Gear oil is far too thick, and while it might lube the chain, it won't get into the range box, nor will it pump up to the differential housing. Both of those areas have gears in them that will make that whine unless they are lubed. By all means, drain your 'case and put that oil in right away, before you nuke one of the gearsets. The 203 is a pretty strong 'case, but it has to have the right oil.
