I've got a 79 CJ5, and the gas cap on my jeep simply clips into place, and when I climb steep hills I have gas running out the filler neck. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Anyone know of anyone else who has had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :(

If it is a locking gas cap that gust snaps in place then the only thing to do is to get a normal gas cap the screws in place. Because the locking type don't give a compleat seal. I have the same problem to. I also have a '79 CJ5 with a locking cap and when i go out wheeling and when i have to get it smoged my locking gas cap leaks. So what i do is when i go out wheeling and when i go to get it smog i have a 2nd gas cap that will seal.:beer:
