Just a FF kit is all, or rear discs to hold the axle in.

Which axle broke and where was the break. Just curious. I agree with Nolen on the solution.

it broke right where the c clip fits in. just snapped in half. but it might have been cracked from the rollover it was in. not sure i just want to make it where it cant happen again. mike

My buddy in Cleveland, OH is selling his 62 with a Toy FF. He might swap back in the stock setup and sell the FF if the purchaser doesn't want to pay for it.

Let me know and I will find what he wants for it.

man i am to cheap to buy a full float, i was just hoping that some one had come up with a press fit bearing that was an easy install. i am really quite happy with the drum brakes in the rear and i am sure i can do a disk brake swap cheap, but then i have to screw around with a new parking brake. which i could do but i was hoping for a super quick fix, and it doesn't look like its out there. mike

Then your option is rear disk which will kind of hold an axle in :)

You must be joking!
All that would do is burn up his rear disk brake pads!
It would be a good safty feature in case his C-Clip broke, but not a good way to retain an axle.

no one was recommending the rear disc brake setup as a premanent c-clip eliminator. It would hold the axle in after and axle breakage.

Yea what he said.

Disk brakes may keep the axle from passing you on the road. My buddy (Mr. no maintenance) was coming off the highway (off ramp) looked in his rear view mirror and saw his Tire and axle in his mirror.....then he panicked.

Hopefully, you would notice vibration, burnt smell, noise, etc. before you destroyed the caliper :( .

A disk brake setup is not the solution, it may just help.

To be honest, I have not seen too many axles come out. I would just inspect the C-clips and forget about it.
