Ok, I've tried searching but the info on 77's really goes back and forth. I believe this is a pre 1977 1/2 as it is the hi-boy. So I'm just looking for a little confirmation on my findings. I know it's a 44 front with ram assist, not sure if it's low or hi pinion as I don't have it here to look at. It had a 390 originally with c6 and divorced 205.
If it's the low pinion would it still have flat top knuckles?
Any idea what gearing they used, I'm guessing it's 4.10s.
Any info you can give me would be appreciated on what to look out for.
Any flaming is probably deserved and will be taken in proper perspective.
Thanks for any help as I know Jack about ford stuff.

it may have been a 351 or 400, I know it's got a new 460 now though.

Aye 390 stopped production in 1976 I beleive. My early 77 highboy has a low-pinion 60, which leads me to believe yours would have a low pinion 44 as well. Mine came stock with 4.10's. Believe me the first thing you want to do to this truck is scrap the crappy ram assist setup, for a 78-79 style setup. You can find all the parts needed on a 78-79 f-250 and with a little fab wokr make it work, or there are a few complete kits available that include everything you need for around $800.
Here is a link to the kit I bought, awesome kit, complete bolt on, comes with new saginaw style pump, (much better then stock 77 P.O.S) new gear box, all necessary brackets to bolt pump to whatever motor you need, a frame bracket to mount box, new borgeson steering shaft, all needed bolts, belts, and P/S hoses, and the draglink. P.S. I didnt use the hoses they sent as I decided to run a P/S cooler to keep her cool.
