click the link - I'm not posting all the pictures :flipoff2:
http://www.piratemotorsports.net/jerry/Jerry.htm

specs:
2000 TJ shell
5.3 from 2004 tahoe
350turbo w/reverse manual valve body
203 and 205 transfer cases
rockwells
44" TSL's
wheel base - 119"

decided to start with a junkyard shell since it's gonna get trashed anyways.
started the build Dec 21st, and should be done next week some time. I can't take credit for any of it - I'm just the shop bitch and the owner of the rig. It was fabricated by 1cdub. just got to put shocks on, make a fuel cell, put cage and seats in, and it should be done (well...drivable). the pics are a little behind since we have done a lot of work during the week on it.

Looks pretty damn good right now. Any reason you didn't go ahead and use rear steer? Looks good though and can't wait to see more progress pics

time frame basically. I have to get it done by march 18th for the big meat run in Poteau, OK. I did look, but they were typically more than I wanted to spend, or weren't u-joint style (without having to drive to BFE to get them)

maybe next winter I'll upgrade....lord knows my pocket book is killing me as it is.

Could you post some more info on the frame. Maybe a few measurements and pictures from various directions.

I am currently trying to figure out how best to make a frame for a Scrambler. The CJ-5 is realitivly easy with the straight through design. I would like to see how you addressed the narrowed waist in the middle of the frame to accomadate the engine.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Maybe you couls post more to the Topic of the Week post?

I bought a motor from a 2004 tahoe that had 17k miles on it, and was rolled. I ASSUMED all would be well, but when we pulled the plugs and turned the motor over to get the oil out of the cyl, the motor would only turn over a little under 1 revolution. So we pulled the pan and found out I paid for a fawked up motor  .

The person that rolled it prolly let it run upside down...

It didn't mess up the cyl wall or head, so I put a new rod in, and we'll just have to see how long it lasts....

fuel cell is now done, dash and wiring is completed, I would have been able to drive it, but the fuel rail I ordered was the wrong one, so I'm over-nighting one so I can fire it up Tues night (guy that pulled motor broke it with the hoist chain). Roll cage is about 70% made. we still have seat bars (and mount seats), finish front hoop (going to tie into roll cage), rocker guards, and 5 point harnesses left.

I am scared to ask, but do you have a run down of the total cost? Is there anything that particularly surprised you? If had to start over would you do anything different?

Awesome rig!!!

sorry for the delayed response - didn't see this....

rough cost is about 16k. what suprised me was 16 fing k!!! hehe seriously - just all the little shit you don't write down really that adds up to thousands.

honestly I really love my Jeep and wouldn't change anything! well - actually an unlimited body to allow 4 seats would be tits:smokin:

besides chromoly axles and an atlas, I wouldn't change a SINGLE thing....not even sure I would want rear steer.

but be warned - theres some obsticles my jeep just isn't good at because it's SO heavy(hot springs, arkansas)....on the other hand it does REALLY well in Moab because it's so heavy and sticks to the rocks very well. So if you do a lot of mud or loose steep hills, rockwells and the heavy ass frame built here is not for you.
