i was looking at axle shaft lengths for a dana 60 to see what options you would have by using another shaft from a dodge or ford.

i have no intention of doing this but i thought it would be a good concept. if someone used two short side axles from a IHC 1600 in a chevy dana 60 it would narrow it by 3.625. (24.3/16 a side)

there would be many problems with spring pirch width would be eleminated
right or leftside tcase drops could be used

only one shaft would be needed for a spair

i know it would be harder on the driveshaft but has anyone ever seen someone do this? or think of it?

drive shaft in the middle would not work well with anything but a center drop t-case and would be likely to hit the oil pan.

yea, it kinda seems like a good idea, but when it comes to it, ur front shaft would be on a hellish compound angle, the last thing u would want....and yea itd hit the oil pan too.
