I have four questions I need help with...

1) Where is the Reverse light Switch on a T-150, I found the wires unconnected and cannot find where they plug into! The dealer says I need to know if it is a blade or plug type so he can sell me the replacement part that screws into it, but I cant even locate it.

2) How do you check the tranny fluid in a T-150. I see the plastic screw where you fill it, but cant tell how you would figure how much is already in there? Should I drain it then refill it?

3) Same quesiton as #2 but on the transfer case.

4) Where is the plug in on the Transfer Case for the Four Wheel Drive Indicator light?!?

Thanks!

Pete

you can't miss the reverse switch, its the only "sensor" on the tranny. I dont know what plastic plug your talking about, I dont think there is anything plastic on my t150. Theres a magnetic plug on the side that you use to fill it, its full when it overflows.

Same w/ the dana20, except the plug is on the back. and theres no 4wd indicator switch.

Some simple answers for ya...

The reverse switch on the T150 screws into the top cover, just on the protrusion where the reverse shifter rod would recess.

Checking the oil level on most any manual tranny requires a proper sized wrench and your finger. Unscrew the filler cap (on T150, should be on the passenger side, about halfway, and definitely NOT plastic) and stick your finger inside. Fluid should be just at that level, and of course won't be able to go over that level without running out. Too much oil in a tranny is NOT a good thing.

Same deal with the transfer case. CJ D20's usually had the filler plug at the rear, opposite the front output. Truck D20s usually had the filler plug on the passenger side of the case.

the 4WD indicator switch screws into the transfer case right above where the shift rods enter the case. Of course, if you don't know you're in 4WD when you're in 4WD, a switch is likely the least of your worries.

To solve alot of these little issues, get yourself a Hanes CJ repair manual and a Chilton CJ repair manual. Why both? Usually where one gives you the wrong information, the other one will give you the right information. The fun part is figuring out which is the right info.
