My vote would be for th IR 2131. I bought mine 5 years ago used, and have run it till there was frost on the outside, and it still runs strong. I can't comment on anything else.

Snap On has a couple of new Impacts that are really the stuff...

The 3/8 gun puts out 300 pounds of torque!

The 1/2 gun will do 700! That is a lot of torque from a very lightweight gun.

They come with a 2 year warranty - and a flat rate rebuild cost after that (rebuilds replace every internal part with new - you only reuse the case).

They are fast and quiet - a tad pricey compared to the IR line, but the mechanics that we have using them love them.

A couple of new features in the new line of composite guns:

They are "sealed units" running a dual hammer anvil that is submersed in Red Line synthetic oil. No need to oil or grease the guns on a daily basis except for the vanes (which are now made of a composite longer-lasting material as well).

They are balanced - so they don't lean forward or backward in the hand, making for better operator comfort over a long day of work.

They have bottom of handle exhaust so no more air in your face as you work close in.

They weigh in at just a tad over half the weight of the IR guns, but put out more power.

the two i was looking at is the 2100G and the 231G actual operating torque range was 25-300 ft lbs for the 231 and 25-350 ft lbs for the 2100 wit ha max of 450ft lbs in forward on both and a 550 reverse on the 2100 and 500 on the 231

price was $127 for the 2100G and $107 for the 231G

IR rates their 2135ti at 700lbs traditional torque, and 1000lbs nut busting torque in reverse. I have both a 2135ti and a 2131 which I believe was rated for 600 or 700 lbs in reverse. The 2135 is so much more powerful than the 2131 that I was shocked. 1 year later I am still amazed as to how powerful it is. The 2135ti was on sale at Amazon a few months ago for $179, but is currently $219. Before you tout the snap on as being more powerful you might want to compare it yourself to a 2315ti
