Would this be possible to make in a hydraulic press brake? Just have to know the angles and how it fits together?:

Or does it have to be done on a CNC machine?

Thanks

You couldn't do it as one piece with pie-cuts, instead you'd have to have 8 or so <-> shaped pieces and weld them all together. It'd be hard to get right.

I don't see why you couldn't use a hydraulic press brake. Get a flat piece and trim off all the necessary parts then bend on the lines. It would be hard to get all lined up nice but not impossible.

So I could do it with 1 piece with all those pie cuts, it would just take a long time and A LOT of thinking to get it right?

start with cardboard to get the cuts right (or talk with your nearest mathematicly inclined nerd) then put it on the brake!

Ah! Good point with the cardboard. That would make it easier! Thanks!

You'd better be using one wide assed brake then since the piece will curve around more than 90* and either hit the ram or the brake. You also wont be able to bend the < shaped sides before you put it in the press to make the main bends.

Braxton,
So it's not very practical to do it on a hydraulic press? I should just take it to a metal shop for them to CNC bend it?
