Here is a pic of my truck on 36's next to my neighbour's (Thumper) YJ with 4" lift and 33's. I took this 15 minutes ago and it is not a chop. :)

Nice! but for off-camber work I'd choose the Jeep. Your Exploder looks fairly high w/relatively minimal track width.

Off camber can be a little dicey sometimes but the one advantage to having front coils that are too stiff is that it doesn't get too far out of hand. I'm lifted 6.5" in front and 8" in the rear. With all my gear and a spare in the back it settles about an inch or so.

A nice fix for that top heavy part. Take off yer top! :D :D I have seen a 4door explorer with a full cage and no top hitting the trails around here, and its more stable then my rig. Recently, the truck has been topped with a full soft top and looks realy nice. Damn if i never can talk to the owner.. :(

The top and the glass are definately heavy. Right now I have no plans to take the top off. I do want a cage though. One day if(when) I ever roll it on it's lid the top will probably come off. Until then I just have to try not to get all that weight moving too quickly.

Another cure is instead of that huge lift give the sheet metal a bit of a nip here and there (like 5 inches or so). I am running 38's on my EB w/ only 3 1/2" of lift. Different rigs, but same concept!

Paul your running 36's on stock axles????? I snapped a 44 shaft and joint like a twig with 36's in my Sploder. Do think your going to be ok with the D35 hubs?:nuke: :D

It's not really a "huge" lift. The hood of my truck is still lower than a completely stock 3/4 ton 4x4 Ford or Dodge.

How much cutting did you do on the fenders? Pics?

My only point was that you can interchange lift and fender trimming for better centers of gravity. More and more you are seeing less lift and less fenders for better performance. Rolling sucks.

The two back doors throw a loop into fender cutting. I guess you'll have to take them off!

Looks sweet...

Actually you can go about 8-10" into the bottoms of the back doors before affecting the weatherstip or anything else. I pushed the rear rocker panels about 1-1.5" and the tires have lots of room. I cut about 4" back at the bottom of the front fenders and then rolled the edges under. I still have a little tweaking to do on the front but nothing major.

Oh yeah...Thanks :)

Amazing... more response here than on our site:rolleyes: I guess they're all getting used to seeing big Explorers.

I still want to know what kind of clearance you get in front of the rear tires when you stuff the wheel up in there. My 35's are rubbing already, no way I can go bigger without some cutting.

Rick, I took a 3lb "wrench general purpose" and rolled this lip over so that it is only about 1/16th thick at the bottom of th door. I have enough room for the tires. I'll try to get a picture of it tomorrow.

that was a fun day as I remember  I am still not sure who got the worst of that you or me but I know Matt was by far the worst. Let me know when you can wheel again and we will go.

used front bumper. It's a Shittybilt that I got a good deal on. I just need the winch plate. I never got to finish my welding class because I went into the hospital before it ended.
