Even though you should really search, and I mean you REALLY SHOULD SEARCH. I'll help ya out. You can get a Posi-Lok cable actuator system from summit or about anywhere to eliminate the vaccuum BS. Or if you search on the internet you can find ways to do it for about 10 bucks. I'm not gonna be that nice because I've had a shitty day and I feel like drinking beer and being lazy.

The Cable lok thing was the first mod i made on my jeep, its about 200 bucks. Thinking about it now i really should have made my own. Word of advice if you decide to buy on take your time getting the spacing right by the shifter fork, and make sure when your adjusting it that the cable is fully ingaged. Its also a bitch to un-lock the mofo, after i first installed it would take me like 20 min. just to get the fucker to disingage. After a couple trips you get used to it and now i can disingage it pretty easily. Just get used to reverse forword reverse forword reverse forword, cause thats how u gotta disingage it. But it beats the shit outta relying on the vac opperated one.

Eliminate the two piece all together using TJ front inner axles. Easy setup, and no need to deal with vacuum, plus will give you beefier shafts; the TJ uses 297 stronger u-joints compared with the 26x you have now. The cable lock works, but you can get a TJ axle complete and tear it apart for almost the same price, plus keep your old shafts as spares ;)

u can use a dana 44 seal to seal off the tj shaft as well, a couple wheeling buddies have done this and thats what they wound up having to do

actually the seal is a $12 one from Warn because of the goofy size required by the YJ axle disconnect housing and the TJ size shaft. The stock YJ shaft at that point in the tube is HUGE... I've never heard of anyone using a D44 seal.

With my ol XJ I had I just welded on a pull ring and drilled a hole for a cotter pin, all i had to do was crawl under the truck and pull or push the ring and snap in the cotter pin, cost me about 3$ for the pull ring and welded on a bolt. QUICK EZ CHEAP
