Those are 25 year old factory original SSII fender flares. Soft rubber, in remarkable shape for their age. Does that make them JC Whitney specials??

Does anyone make CUT-OUT flares for scouts. Could I use bronco rear style flares. I'd like one's that will flex, like those fancy jeep ones.

No cut-out flares.

They wouldn't do you any good anyhow.. both the front and rear fender wells are double-walled.. makes it a real PITA.

for a "mild" cut job.. here are pics of some Dakota flares..

The pics are pretty big..

Dodge Dakota. I think they're Xenon flares, but I'm not sure.

Hey.. Mike Spotts sent me the pics ages ago.. I just gave 'em a home.

Yeah, I just want to do some mild trimming, for my SOA and 35's, and those look perfect!

So those are Dakota Cut-Out flares? They look good, but it looks like you would want 2 Rears instead of a front and rear.

What did he do about that??

Does Xenon have a web site. What other company sells flares, maybe I'll check some websites.

I dont' think they're cut-outs.. they're just standard Dakota flares.

No idea if the Scout is even on the road yet.. ;-)

james duff's new EB flares look like they might work well on a scout.

My problem with the EB flares is, tring to picture a scout with those mostly squared-off wheel openings.

Did you look at the picture? They don't look very squared off to me, especially the front ones.

I checked these out.......

Are those the one's that get old and flatten off at the top, then the corners get squared off?? I see that all the time on Chevy trucks it looks like:barf: I'd rather pay the cash for some decent one's:usa:

I don't know about trying to make this rear body line work with a scout.

In case anyone missed it.

'67 - '72 Chevy truck cut-out flares from Bushwacker look great and fit great on Scout II's and 800's alike. They can be installed with minor trimming (to the flares) with no mods to the Scout body, or you could cut out the double fenders on the Scout and use them that way too. Sorry I don't have pics of them on my friend's Traveler, but believe me they look great. In my opinion, they look nicer than the later model flares (like Abba runs), because they retain the stock curved lines of the Scout, rather than squaring it off like the later Chevy style. No :mad3: to you Abba, yours looks badass; I'm just saying I like the round ones even better.

The trouble with them is they run about $180 a PAIR....

Yeah well those EB ones are listed on the James Duff web site for $145.00ea and I don't even know how well they'd fit.

Maybe I won't even need flares I was just hoping to cut out some rust at the top of my rear fenders and in the lower front of my rear quarters.

Maybe i'll just cut-and-fit some sheetmetal in to fix it.

Problem is the SSII flares is that they don't bolt to the inside lip, they bolted to the flat sheet metal. The SSII flares actually cover a fair amount of sheet metal above the fender arches. If I swap to a different kind, I think they won't cover as much area on the sheet metal. I have a set I picked up that bolt to the lip, and they don't cover anywhere near the area the ones I have on now cover.... which is why I have not put them on. That, plus I clearanced the lip (bent in up flat) on my front fenders, so there is noplace to bolt them to.... :D

These are the early style CHEVY CUTOUT FENDER FLARES.

I just may use them if I can find out a little bit more about their construction. Maybe use only fronts or mix & match somehowhttp://mediaservice.photoisland.com/auction/Feb/20022214140976388694593.jpg

RISE RISE Aaaaallllmighty dead thread.

:shaking:

still looking for flare options? You should go with the square looking chevy cutout style 73-and up truck style. Combine those with the GM/chevy bed buckets and you will be able to have a lot more room in the rear for your tires to do as they wish.

A stock back seat will not fit though.

Well the cheapest I could find them was for $300.00. Kind of pricey. I think I might just go with the Flexy flares from JC whitney for $80.00. Figure I could get close to 4 sets for the price of one... :grinpimp:

Rear inner fenders have been replaced and rear seat is gone. Not trying to get bigger tires just to cosmetically make the outer fender look better when I cut the rusted out lip off.

well in case anyone is interested I installed the JC Whitney Flexy Flares this weekend (side mount - had to take about and inch off the rear fender to eliminate some rust). They look great and are very stiff (made from some thick rubber). If I get a chance I'll post some pics.
