heres how i got rid of the annoying flare in the frame around the factory coil mount. my tires nearly scrub my frame at full turn, so i wanted my shocks pretty centered above the axle, but the flare out kept me from doing it. so i fixed it.
here is after the cut, before i whacked it with a hammer and knocked the offending piece off...

the old piece next to the new. gives me like 4 more inches of shock mounting space.

Looks clean..fill that hole on the bottom for a cleaner look. Or is that space for the U-bolts to go into....3rd pic? How much up travel do you have and are you going to put a bumpstop on it?

dont really give a shit about looks at this point. i will be building a buggy over the winter. the u bolts do go in there, but i still need to cut them down a bit. i have about 5" of up at the leaf.
i went for a drive the other day and was bottoming every once in a while on the u bolts. i need to put some shocks on asap. i have some edelbrock ias shocks for her, hopefully they dont wear out like my damn rs5000's. the 5000's have about a 2" dead spot where there is no dampening. its not at a certain point in the travel, it happens wherever they are sitting.
