Become a member of an organization that is working to keep trails open. I am a poor college student and I put up the $20 today after reading about how much the greens are doing to close trails. You can too.

The green organizations are getting out of hand and are starting to get exposed for the power hungry punks they are.

approx. 150 views and NO replies supporting this organization:question:

C'mon people!! You'll pay $20 for a freakin "red star" to be able to post pics, BUT you can't afford the same $20... at the least ... to an organization that FIGHTS to keep your trails open?!? (and yeah, I don't have my red star... yet! I'll be getting ahold of Lance to support the board too)

IMHO it would be worth dedicating the measley $20 and do it every month just to keep all of the trails open for my kids and their kids kids. :rolleyes:I'd even do it for you too, even if you won't do it for yourself!!

I toss the "gauntlet" down and challenge you to do the same. :D

I agree with the tigger, nobody bitches about $20 a pop for u-joints, but it don't seem like people will send in that same $20 to save the trails.

Unfortunately, I'm way too uninformed to spend my $$ the right way. Anybody know which group has the best lawyers and whatnot, and lobby's straight to congress? That's where I want my $$ to go.

USA-ALL is doing great things, just for the Utah area as I understand it. But there is A LOT of stuff in Utah at risk of being closed. I think it's Utah Shared Access Alliance. If you EVER 'wheel in Moab seriously consider giving these people money, the go straight to Congress as I understand it.

I am a member of:

Blue Ribbon Coalition (http://www.sharetrails.org/)
Tread Lightly (http://www.treadlightly.org/)
United Four Wheel Drive Association (http://www.ufwda.org/2K/)
California Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs (http://www.cal4wheel.com/)

I think that Blue Ribbon is the most political and most effective at lobbying to keep land open. As was mentioned they also encompass snow mobilers and other motorized recreationalists so they are a larger and more powerful organization than some of the others.

It is important that we all get involved and act as stewards of our hobby because the GAGs currently are better funded and have larger numbers of supporters. We can sit around here saying how trail closures suck ass but really you are just preaching to the choir. Help everyone you know understand the way you feel and why.

I have just begun to wheel ... so no damn ECO-NAZIs are gonna take it away from me!!! I'll be looking into USA-ALL as well. I am also going to be working out a way to get some online petitions going and shove them under the noses of the "sponsors" of Blue Ribbon and USA-ALL. The hopeful outcome is that they will realize how this will impact them if they don't start to REALLY fork out the BIG $$$ and keep ALL TRAILS open. Sure enough, as soon as a trail closes another handful are in jeopardy! If it keeps up, we have NO trails left and they have no one to buy their shiat!!

So let them all know how you feel ...

All the orgs. mentioned are a great place to start. the reason I say start is that they can't do it alone. We need to get involved and go to meetings, make phone calls, write letters, vote, etc..... basically, I'm saying $20 is the least you can do - but we need to do a lot more if we wish to keep public lands open to the public....

a good start is to visit the L/U section once a day and see whats going on and how you can help...but the most important thing is to do something - and supporting the organizations that fight for our trails is a great place to start...
