I was wondering what it would cost to ship a truck (ford f350) from indana to CA. Has anyone done this? I have a chance to buy a 78 f350 for $1000 obo, and it runs. All I really want it the 60's off it. What do you think I could get for the rest to of the truck if I were to part it out once I took off the 60's. Would it be worth paying the shiping?
sounds like it is time to fly back there and take a road trip.

I'm not sure what it would cost for you but I know that to ship from Toronto to Vancouver (similar distance) is around $900-$1000 by train. Those trucks can't be that rare. Aren't there any available locally?

not for a grand, looks like I am going to be taking a road trip, how much do you think the truck would be worth with out the 60's, I think it has a 460 in it. I was thinking I could get about 500 or more for it parting it out.

Before you go flying off to get it make a few phone calls to some freight forwarding companies. The price varies by distance and the size of the terminal. Shipping to and from major centres is cheaper. When I shipped my car to Calgary (and then 3 years later from) from(to) Vancouver it was cheaper than I could drive it for. You've got to factor in fuel, insurance, food, lodging and any unforseen roadside repairs, not to mention time off work and bus/train/plane fare to get there. It is usually cheaper to have it shipped.

Thanks everyone, I am going to be talking to the guy today to see about just getting the 60's off it, or I may just have the whole thing shiped to me.

I just priced shipping a truck from So Cal to So Indiana and it ranged from $750-850. Hope this helps, do a search in Gen 4x4 and there are some links to shipping companies.

Well I just talked to the guy and got him down to $900 for the whole truck. It has a straight body and a 351ci motor. Anyone here in Indiana that needs a body and engine. that might want to make some kind of deal so I can get the axles. The guy dosen't want to take the time to take them off. I looked into shiping the truck and it was between 750-900 to do so. I am trying to think of some other ideas, anyone have any more. I also thought about flying out there and taking them off my self and then selling the rest of the truck to a pick a part place and then just send the axles back to myself, but then it may be just as much as getting them out here in CA. Please some more ideas on how to get thies cheep 60's.
