: CalROCS REGIONAL SCHEDULE

Big Rich

Ok here is the information at this time.

We are reevaluating the current 2005 CalROCS regional schedule, first date has been pulled due to conflicts with Tin Bender Jambo and alternate date also has conflicts, so at this time we are looking for a new date that will fit into the current flow. We will have a date sometime after we return from Moab.

This only concerns the CalROCS dates, thsi has nothing to do with the w.E. ROCK dates.

Thanks

Rich

Lets get the Formula Toyota's together on Sunday of the Binder Jambo. We will have most of running FT's there as it is! With the 3 CalRoc events that will give us a total of 4 Formula Toyota events for the year.

It was straight from Rich's mouth when I typed it, but rumor has it, there could be a late May Cougar Buttes event.

so is the schedule on the calrocs site up to date now?

also, is PC built-up now for comps? I know they had those big rocks brought in, but have not been there in a while

Guys, slow down for second. We just got back from Indiana.

Some Updates:

First CalROCS Event: May 20-22 in Cougar Buttes
Prairie City is at a stand still due to state money matters that cannot be disclosed at this time.
Pepdaddy: Not sure what you mean about rubber schedule, everything is going to plan fairly smooth besides the weather issues.
Yes we are looking to get into Reno for a Regional and National Event.
Pomona is soley waiting on the fairplex and whether THEY find a place that is suitable for us to have a full blown event. If Pomona does not pan through, look at Reno being a strong alternative.

Here's the thing...

We are trying to open a coupl4e of new locations in Cal. and Nevada, until we have confirmed locations this is how we are going to list them.

If they don't work out, we'll go to our old standby locations...

As for dates, we had them posted for along time, then we get the notices that they are in conflict with club runs or other events. We pulled our dates until we could sort it all out.

South is going to be extremely hot about that time.

Rich not trying to bust your balls here....

But why would you advertise event locations if they arent set in stone?

This sport is evolving more and more each day and our sponsors want to know where and when they can count on us being somewhere....

Im not a promotor, but if it were me id put TBA instead of a location that hasnt been secured.

There are a bunch of us whos roots go back to calrocs.....its a good time, good comps, but its getting harder to go to these events with events changing with the wind...

This is awesome! I wanted to do the first CalRocs event but it was the same weekend as the VORRA race. Then it got changed to the same weekend as the Best In The Desert race! Finally it's on a weekend I'm not racing!!! I may finally get a chance to try this out. Hope this doesn't change again.

BTW, what happened to the CalRocs/VORRA forum?

See ya at the VORRA race in Lovelock!

Ouch... No Rich I'm not ready or interested in putting on a series yet. We're working with some local people to put some new venues together so you'll (all promoters) will have some place to bring events in the Boise area.
Here's the thing, as Shane pointed out, unreliable schedules are really hurting our efforts to continue competing. So many people have dropped out already for one simple reason " cash". The only way to run is with sponsors, and they are demanding more from us in return for their investment. Our future sucess is tied together, promoters need competitors and we need somewhere to compete. Changes are hard enough to deal with, but fully dropping an event kills. We're forced to go try the other flavors to make up our contracted number of events. Opening new locations is great if it can be done around a core of solid events. Right now the Calrocs events don't look to fit into anything we're able do,which really sucks because they've always been the most fun. The point of all the bitching is we need solid info, if we're going to run your events.

So whats the scoop with the event up here is WA state? Rumor has it its not going to be in goldendale, instead by the gorge, which really is a crappy place to have it (you never been there when the normal winds pick up)

Working witht he state and one of the largest construction companies, we ASSUMED that when we we're told we get the rocks for the project, and since you can see them from the event location, that it was going to happen.

But alas, it bit us in the ass again :(

We will have a 3 event CalROCS series this year.

Socal is the location for the MAY event. It maybe warm, but at least it won't be raining or snowing

Problem is, you guys are in a transition phase. Using public land for these comps is on the way out. Rich can see that, obviously. But, the man-made courses aren't ready yet. Not enough of 'em anyway. Patience ;)

Tex, public lands used for recreation IS NOT ON IT"S WAY OUT!!!!! Do I still pay my taxes to have municipal soccer fields that I don't use? Hell yes. So everyone else is going to have to support off road recreation too.

I know you're reffering to Competition and you see it as separate from recreation but I assure you it is not.

Perhaps you think that from a business stand point we need to go to man made courses. Again I assure you that is only one aspect of the sports future.

Properly managed we can use the limelight of man made courses to raise public awareness that we ALL have the right to recreate on our public lands.

Rich's- time to start getting everything done that you prommise. If that takes promissing less than so be it. You have a fantasic following (including myself) but it is getting increasingly more difficult to count on, and plan for, all these changes. I don't want to see you lose the trust of your following. Plan your work and allow time to work your plan.
