I want to get a ford 60 and cut the tubes off both sides about 3 inches from the diff. Then switch the tubes and weld. Switch the knuckles and have a RC passenger drop diff. My question is, if i cut exactly 3 inches from the diff on each side, will the stock shafts fit in only switched, or is the carrier offset to one side? If so, how much offset? Im pretty sure i can make this work, what do you think?

in a word get out a measuring tape. measure from the side gears out to each knuckle, then measure from the edge of the diff to the knuckle, if the measurement difference is the same then it will work. no I don't know if its offset, I don't think it would be though

Only the ring and pinion are offset. the axles and carrier will be in the right spot. I thought of this only after I swaped sides of a HP 44, they are either in the same place, or real damn close.
