I just installed a 4" superlift on my '74 r/c... can anyone tell me if I should be able to clear 35/12.5's without any rubbing against the wheel wells? Would wheel backspacing help at all?

you will probably get a little rub but not to much. gust get some different off set wheels

at full stuff they will rub, especially if your turning. various backspacing will make the amout of rub different.

I would trim, and run a 8" wheel with decent back spacing. You will clear them though!

Had a 4" SkyJacker and 2" body lift on my '83 P/U and still had to trim the fenders. Not hard to do though.

72-79's had really low fenders. Everything seems to rub on them. I rolled mine, and 35's cleared easy. There are pics on my site.

Your site is GREAT but it makes it look so easy. Unfortunately, bodywork is where I stand back and go 'DUH'. I'll do the 'mechanical stuff' but can't even imagine cutting, rolling sheet metal.
I thought the clearance problems would be with the fenderwells though (I can just 'remove' those if need be) and not the actual fenders with 35/12.5 tires???

ALSO: 'the shackle flip' you did looks like a super-popular idea... What does it do for the ride/suspension exactly? What difference from 'stock' would I notice after doing it on my r/c?

No idea. I gave up on the project before I got it finished. I did it because the shackle was hitting the hanger on up travel and I was afraid i was going to bend a spring. I also lost quite a bit of down travel, and the suspension moved around ALOT more. I think there is more leverage on my springs after the shackle flip.
