I have a t-18/dana 30 combo in my Commando from an '80 Scout. The rear output bearing needs to be replaced.
Can I pull just the output and replace the bearing and seals, or does the entire case have to be removed?

I think it will depend on which bearing. Is it the inner or outer bearing that needs to be replaced? You should be able to replace the outer bearing with out pulling the case. The inner would/should require pulling the case out and partially apart.

I know there is some play in the output shaft and the seal is leaking, so I was thinking outer output bearing and seal.

could just need to be reshimed, sometime the shims crack/split and fall out... you can pull the tail housing off with it case still installed, (pull the yoke) there will be a light pressfit on the outter bearing/cone, so as you remove the tail housing your pulling that.. When i reshimed mine I pried it back some then got my large 2 jaw puller on the housing and pulled right off... You may/not be able to get the front bearing/cone off the shaft as it sits in the full case, but you should be able to inspect it.. And go from there.... -my
