redwagon 03-21-2005, 06:21 PM I like it a lot.....again...how much?
Ehsan and I were talking about this at "that other site" we all go to sometimes, and I suggested that soft top twistlocks for the sides, and factory soft top rail for the windshiled would be a great fastening arrangment. As long as this sucker will stay in place whilst towing from Missouri to Utah, I'm signing on for one...The fact the it replaces blue tarps and bungees in a nice bonus. I'm not really worried about "trail worthiness," that's an added feature for me...I'm more concerned with "trailerworthiness," and it's ability to stay put in high speed trailering with crosswinds:)
It sucked watching my Bestop explode crossing Kansas to Moab last year....

The Jerk 03-22-2005, 08:35 AM damn perfect. how ever i dont have a family cage so i guess it will just hang losly. Also would be hard to put some gromets in there for tiwing it down ex.. for when rig is on a trailer etc......
ehsankiani 03-23-2005, 12:34 AM Hello again..
Thank you for such nice comments.. I will try to answer all the questions here..
1.. Yes we can make the side as long as the door..
2.. About Chef's point.. The sides will have similar holes as the soft top so that the gromets may fit and hold the sides down. The rear corners will have same bels as the soft top so that one can firmly tie it down at the rear. The top will come with some 3 inch long velcro and metal strips which can be screwed onto the top of the cowl just infront of the windshield(Pics soon) so that the top is held down in front aslo..
3. Material used is the exact same as we use in our soft tops.. This is Vinyl..
4. Pricing and shipping.. The price of the top will be US$150. Shipping will not be much because of the weight of the top and especially if done in a group.
Thanks
Ehsan

A group buy would reduce the shipping. It will start reducing start with 5+ tops..
Here are some pics of the top with in the daylight with some improvements and how the top folds.

woooody 04-27-2005, 03:04 PM OK, for those that want in (local to the SF Bay Area) cost should be ~$200.
For those outside of the Bay Area, figure $15 more for shipping to you.
PM me with color. I have a pay pal account, so figure about $5 more for the pay pal fee. Or you can mail a check.
I'd like to order by Monday.

Ehsan,
Is the cost for a top with sides long enough to cover soft-top doors? If this is designed to go over one of your factory soft-tops, then it should fit over a BestTop or STC Fasttrac tops, right?
Thanks,
Jer
woooody 04-29-2005, 12:58 PM Jer
Ehsan said it's $15 more.
Everyone... Looks like we're over 5 people, so it might be a bit less (still not sure on the shipping)
My guesstimates are
Top - $150
Shipping from Pakistan - $50/top (could be less as the order grows)
Shipping from SF Bay Area to you $20
If you want in, let me know by Monday
I can take a check (PM me for address) or Pay pal at woooody@ix.netcom.com
Any overage will be returned after the dust settles.
My question is still this:
Will it stay on whilst trailering across Kansas in a wicked crosswind? We've lost *two* tops to this in the last two years. I don't even want to run a top anymore, but would like weather protection while trailering across country?
Ehsan, think it'll hold up? I got two guys , maybe more wondering...
Thanks, Alan

Hmmm.. As far as I can gues.. It would stay.. We will be supplying velcro strips that will screw onto the cowl top to hold the front down..

Imagine driving 70 miles per hour into a 40 mile an hour headwind, and you'll get an idea of what we're up against. Blew the seams apart on my last top (not yours).
woooody 04-29-2005, 04:36 PM Chef
Good question. I think you could "retrofit" it to work. I don't know that you are going to want to put fasteners on your cowl, however.
I have half doors, and lost a bikini trailering over the tahachapi pass last weekend. 75+_ with 40 mph cross winds. And it was a tight fit.
I personally think it would work better over a soft top, then over a cage for what you want (smaller air pocket).
If you have that many now, it may be best to wait, let us get this first order in, and I can test it as a trailer top.
Whaddya think?

I have found of a source for the waxed canvas.. They export tents to the Middle East.. But it would be pretty expensive for a single top or a set of two.. I will try to get a quote if you want.. Please email me at ehsankiani@yahoo.com so I have this in line..

Vortec_Cruiser 07-29-2005, 11:45 PM Of those who ordered one of these tops, has anybody heard from Ross Woody? According to Ehsan, these should have arrived by now. I get no response when I email Ross.
woooody 07-30-2005, 02:41 AM I emailed ehsan the day you sent me email. Haven't heard back from him to confirm what you said. I don't have them yet.
We've had a couple of hiccups using the money transfer service (Wells Fargo capped how much I could trasfer to moneybookers)
As soon as I get confirmation from Ehsan, we'll get them here. His total bill that he sent didn't include the credit for your previous order of $125, after he had told me that it would be covered. So, until Ehsan agrees on the amount, I can't send it, then incure additional wire order fees ($41 per order) if he says the total is different.
Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but I was hoping Ehsan would email me back.

I have done business with Ehsan and he is very trustworth. Shit happens on the big split between us and there is not much you can do about it.
I trust him a lot more that that bastard Woooody :D
All kidding aside, send him an International letter with your concerns and your number and he will call you back.
Vortec_Cruiser 07-30-2005, 09:57 AM I consider Ehsan an honest person, also, since this is not the first time I've ordered parts from him.
Here's a copy of the email I received from him on July 9, 2005:
>Hello there
>I have received some mount from him but most is
>still with him because of some technical difficulties
>in the wire transfer procedure.. I have sent the tops
>and thy will be there within a week or 10 days

Looks like the internet went down shortly after he sent email to you
My only concern is that his email to me (that got filtered as SPAM due to the content (Money and Pakistan, I guess)... anyway, that email to me said that the total was $125 more than he and I had talked about. It looked like he just forgot about the Credit that you had on a previous order.
I hope that connectivity gets restored.
Just so that everyone knows, my family is heading to Columbus Georgia for my daughter's softball team. It's the ASA 18 U nationals. So I'll be in limited touch this week (July 31 - Aug 7th). I also won't be able to do an international wire, as I have to be at my bank. I would like to send his last amoutn due via moneybookers again.
So that everyone knows, we had two options, an International Money transfer (Wells Fargo charges $41) or we could use MoneyBookers.com, at 2.6%. I went ahead with moneybookers, but didn't know that Wells Fargo will only allow a $600 transfer every 60 days.
In hindsight, I should have just eaten the extra $15 and sent it via the wire transfer. Of course, hindsight is 20-20.
Sorry for the delays on my part.
AZFJ -- There may be one extra. One of the guys that ordered still hasn't paid me. So if they get here, pm me and I'll get it out to you.
I hope we can get this all resolved next week.

65SWB45 07-31-2005, 03:59 PM Considering that SOME of us placed a group buy in Jan and are still waiting for stuff to be shipped, I would be surprised-disappointed-irked [pick one or more] if this order came thru.
I am more than a little concerned. Lack of communication does not help. :(
Vortec_Cruiser 07-31-2005, 06:35 PM Ehsan has nothing to gain from being dishonest, but a lot to gain from keeping the Cruiser Community as clients. As mentioned above, our only link with Ehsan has gone sour for the time being. :(
Ross, families come first, so good luck at the softball game, and have a safe trip. :)
ehsankiani 08-01-2005, 10:30 AM Hello there Everyone
Sorry for not keeping in touch.. I had been sending mails to Woody with no response and then he found out that some of the mails (or one of them) was in the junk mail... Well.. Then the Pakistan's internet connection with the rest of the world broke down for a good half a month.. During which we started having some problems with the pregnancy my wife was going through, after which we had a baby boy in the family.. :).. (In short I am a DAD now )
The shipment is in the US with another person I sent it to. I have emailed Ross about the wire amount problem and he will probably wire the rest soon.. I will be sending the tops to Wooody in the next week or so..
Thank you to those of you who have supported me and spoke for me in my absence here.. I want to say that to me respect is more important then business.. I have earned a good reputation in the Cruiser community here and would do anything to keep it improving with each order..
I hope this clearifies the concerns. I would be glad to answer any individual ones at my email ehsankiani@yahoo.com or even here..
Thanks
Ehsan

I am planning on sending the order in at the end of the month if you want anything.
Also I do have an extra black top that my father wants to sell that goes onto a FJ40. He has the bows, top and snaps for it. Let me know if your interested.
Thanks

If you have any questions or want to see any pics I have several of them. Also if you need to talk to anyone about the pricing let me know and I can get you some email addresses.
You can also see some of Ehsan's stuff on www.pi.com.pk or ask him about me and what I am doing. He knows that I am putting another order together for him and is getting ready to produce what we need so he can get it to us quickly.
Again let me know if you have any questions.

woooody 09-21-2005, 03:30 PM I'm here... Been very, very busy at work.
Still waiting on parts/replacement tops from Ehsan. I've been trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it's been a month now.
Yes, I need to ship the stuff I do have out. No I haven't done it yet. Yes, I will. Just need to find some boxes big enough/strong enough for the tops. Not having much success.
Vortec_Cruiser 09-30-2005, 09:08 PM Any update? You can usually find large boxes behind furniture stores. I sure could use that top, since my Cruiser sits outside topless. It would look alot better than the blue tarp.
i need a top for mine. i don't think i could get enough takers for a northeast group buy... dang. nice work, ehsan.
Vortec_Cruiser 10-07-2005, 05:48 PM Not receiving parts I've paid for is one thing, but not getting any communication about the status of the parts is another. Come on, Ross, what's the deal with these tops? It's been two months since you received them. Please have the courtesy of keeping us informed about what you are intending to do. It's nice that you volunteered to handle the logistics, but don't leave us hanging.
woooody 10-08-2005, 08:14 AM I'm as frustrated as you are. I'd like to ship everything at once, but Ehsan hasn't followed up with me as to when the replacement parts will arrive. Or if they are even coming.
I know you guys want them, and I know the rains are coming. I will ship what I have on Monday, and I guess we'll figure the rest out if/when Ehsan ever gets back to me.
woooody 10-08-2005, 09:13 AM Hmm.... Big earthquake in Pakistan. Like in Ehsan's home town...
SLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) - A powerful 7.6-magnitude earthquake near the Pakistan-India border Saturday reduced villages to rubble, triggered landslides and flattened an apartment building, killing hundreds of people in both nations. Pakistan's army called the devastation "a national tragedy."
In the capitals of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan, buildings shook and walls swayed for about a minute, and panicked people ran from their homes and offices. Tremors continued for hours afterward. Communications throughout the region were cut.
Pakistan's Geo television quoted chief army spokesman Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan as saying 1,000 people were feared dead. Army officials who flew over quake-hit areas reported seeing hundreds of flattened homes in villages north of the capital, Islamabad.
"The damage and casualties could be massive and it is a national tragedy," Sultan told The Associated Press. "This is the worst earthquake in recent times."
Hope he's OK

Hello there everyone
I had sent the rest of the stuff via mail to Ross. It was not much (a few metal pieces per top) . I have not heard from Ross. I think he did not get them? I have emailed him but without response. Ross.. Please send the ppl the tops and i will send you the metal pieces again which you can forward later. The top works fine even without the pieces. They can be installed later also..
Thanks
Ehsan
Vortec_Cruiser 01-18-2006, 01:12 PM I already got my top from Ross, but no hardware. It serves the purpose for which I got it - to keep the rain out when the Cruiser is parked outside (most of the time). I like it! The cover would fit better if I had my softtop bows installed, but the cage still supports it pretty well. With a softtop or hardtop installed, this cover would fit quite well.

No parts. No replacement tops. Last email was 9/21/05. I tried emailing you around the time of the earthquake in India, so I figured you were pre-occupied.
I'll email you with full details, as we don't need to turn this into a PBB soap opera.
