Blast away my wheelin' brethren!
Seriously though, I'm running a tricked out 3.4L from a '95 Camaro, so I guess I can get motor info on the Chevy section, just wondering about general Isuzu crap.

Nahhh, I'll let all the other little rich kids have the Jeeps and I'll build something a little more surprising for myself. Dare to be drunk, dare to be different...Just imagine the thrill of pouring blood, sweat, tears (and $$$) into a $700 truck and turning it into a $700 wheeling machine!
Don't know about the $700 stuff, but I started with a $100 Willys. I'll let you know how much$$$ it sucked out of me when I am done:D

Typical Newbie question :p.
Rip DeLips 02-21-2002, 05:24 AM My question is how much stock drive train
Well, considering where I live (eastern/coastal NC), going live axle isn't top priority right now. My 3" body lift will be in today, 3" 'suspension' lift (well, sort of) will be in sometime in the next few weeks. Staying with IFS for now (mostly cause I ain't got the spare duckies lying around to put into SAS). Thought about 35x12.50's, but I use this truck to haul me and the dogs to the outer banks about every weekend, and that's just too much tire for me running 85mph on the hi-way. Going with 33x12.fitty Swamper TSL's on 15x8 Rock Crawlers.
A bunch of us Isuzoids went to Teraflex and they are hooking us up with 5.38's diff gears. Right now, they just have our deposits, we pay off the rest when the R&P's are actually ready in about 5 months. They have already hooked us up with 3.08 t-case gears which is pretty cool. Installing ARB locker on the rear, but ARB is still working on our lockers for the front. They should be ready next month is what they are telling us.
You guys will get a kick out of the motor I'm running. We took out the stock 2.8L (about 115HP) and custom built a 3.4L (somewhere close to 200HP when it was all said and done) from a '95 Camaro. Crane cam, Center Force clutch, Hurst shifter boot for shits and giggles, yada, yada. This part is pretty cool...we took the TBI from an older 305ci V8 Chevy, bored out my stock intake to match, and bolted all that on. Sounds like a freakin' cop car...and it completely blew my stock exhaust to shreds!!! Upped the exhaust to 2.5" and went with a Cat-co hi-flo cat and Dynomax muffler.
For a piece-o-chit Isuzu, it'll be King around these parts. Plus, nobody is doing this kind of stuff with Isuzu's, which makes it fun as hell. A LOT of custom work. It really freaks the Jeep crowd out. It's just the perfect compromise for me for hauling two +100lb labs, passenger, fishing/camping/tools/drinking gear and still getting some pretty decent off-road capabilities.
Newbie Juan Kanewbie :flipoff2: (I love that happy little up-yours guy)
Rip DeLips 02-21-2002, 08:15 AM i'm thinkin there was some kind of head injury....

Actually, it was a bizzarre gardening accident.
How did you go from EBs and FJ40s to an Isuzu? WTF?!
When I was younger and had those rigs, I could afford to buy them, but not to fix them. If I could get my hands on another FJ-40 for $1300 I'd buy it in a heart beat. These days, you can't find an old beater of FJ-40 around here for under $5K. Plus, I can sleep in my Trooper when it's raining sideways and blowing a gale.

Rip DeLips 02-21-2002, 10:38 AM Kiss my ass brutha Stinky! My truck may not look as cool as yours, but at least my rig RUNS!!! :flipoff2:
She's IFS for now and will have to stay that way for a while. Got too much $$$ flying in other directions (ie: nasty crack habit, even worse heroin habit, IRS ramming it up my ass, both girlfriends are pregnant, fell off my roof with NO health insurance, etc) to warrant SAS. It'll be at least a year before I can hack my truck up to pieces...it'll happen eventually, but it's going to have to wait.

I hope he's wearing his long johns...cause it's about to get even colder! We'll have that hopped up 4.3L in Jake's Amigo before Stinky gets his in. Jake and I are going to race cross-country to Stinky's house. First one there wins...AND gets to load up The Stinkbug on a trailer and take it for a walk around town. It's a damn shame to keep that thang locked up in the garage all the time. I'm calling the Insane Society! :flipoff2:

fcfred 02-21-2002, 02:51 PM there was a sas isuzu at in the parking lot at the very first nwrcc. It's looked pretty cool, like some sort of jacked up rover safari wagon. I'm pretty sure it was from washington state. Check out the snort4x4 board they may know the guy.
StinkBug 02-21-2002, 02:56 PM if it was a blue 1st gen amigo chances are that was Air Amigo. He lives up in washington somewhere.

Rip DeLips 02-22-2002, 04:53 AM Hey Stinky, have you seen Matt's Trooper since he went SAS. Eventually, mine will 'grow up' to be just like it. If you haven't seen it, check it out.
