TPI 383, Flowtech headers, I keep burning the #5 plug wire (boot) on the header...the shorty plugs would fix it, but I've been told the ACCELs are not for use with the Alum heads...
anyone else heard this? or have a similar problem?
Also the headers are already wrapped, and I've run the Accel plug wires with the "special hi-temp" boot and burnt those too...
TIA,

so which is it - no one runs shortys, no one runs aluminum heads, or no one wants to help me?

what about those fiberglass boots they sell at sumitt. the ones that are 30 bucks each. we run them on the race truck and they work great.
or on my motor home i bought a set of motorcraft plug wires that have a ceramic boot on them. aprox 165 a set.

Well I don't have aluminum heads but dart strait plug heads. had to go to the shorty plugs becase I was eating plugboots on a regular basis. the sleeves (space shit used on the shuttle bout 10 bucks each) over the boots helped alot and got about twice the life from the boot. It makes no sence why you could not run the shorty plugs. It's a friggin spark plug. same thread.....same metal.... I dunno. but if you have strait plug heads and are using shorty headers the headmans seem to offer a shitload more clearance (Arch out and around the sparkplug area unlike cheaper models that seem to go right across the top of the spark plug hole). had I gone and just put those on my problems would have been solved and I would not have needed the shorty plugs. Maybe a different header? Also in jegs there is a brand of plugwire that takes an assload of heat with a very small boot and it does a 90? possibly try that. just some other possible solutions to your delima. and the hi temp accel wires are crap with that roach ass boot or sleeve on them...
