To start i have a 1990 dana 60 with the pin style calipers and the 12.125" (is that correct) rotors. The 1996-97 dana 60's came with bolt on slide calipers that had larger pads and used 12.625" rotors? they were larger but i thought only by 1/2" in diameter but also i thought they were a little thicker. IIRC

Anyways were the bolt on caliper's pistons from the 96 & 97 D50's and D60's any larger than the 1980-95. Does anyone make a bracket to replace the bracket on my king pin axles to make using either super duty bolt on calipers or the 96-97 calipers on my king pin dana 60 with the larger rotor or a larger easily had rotor that will work with my spindles? what other improvements are out there for the ford front ends specifically to help with the brakes hanging up and for better braking.

I want to avoid a $1000 EGR kit or something since then calipers/rotors etc are exactly over the counter parts.

Thanks

probably SOL, instead of calipers which probably have the same pistion area, and larger rotors. What about vented rotors, or have yours machined, I understand that hetting the gasses and heat from between the pads and rotor make quite a noticable difference. That way you at least still have ovr the counter availibility, and I know that aftermarket companies make vented for your truck but I dont kniow who. One more thing... you have a cummins in your truck, check the vacuum pump, I think those things are supposed to pull 25- 30 inches. since they dont pull huge volumes of air only high vacuum readings, if you have ANY vacuum leaks anywhere like your heater controll system, cruise controll, it will have a huge effect on your vacuum readings and on your braking. Or maby your boosters shot. Or if you have Hydroboost, I know how you can get more flow and pressure from your pump but I dont know if that would help , or how to modify your Hydrobooster. If your asking this because your rear brakes do what ford brakes always do..locking up before the front,, get an adjustable proportioning valve

interesting.

Yep 98 12 cummins so shes hydro boost. pressure is good, i was just evaluating whether or not there were any other options as i am getting ready to swap the dodge dana 60 out for a ford d60 with hubs. in doing such i was pondering changing the master cylinder to the 01/02 larger one and then adding disk brakes in the rear and then for the front i was evaluating the Ford factory braking options. but if i am stuck with pins that isnt a bad thing. I never had a bad time with my old pins other than they occassionally would drag. so i was wondering if the bolt on style used in 96-97 had any additional benefits.

Thanks for the tid bits
