My truck is a '95 12v 2wd auto tranny truck with 159K on the ticker. Newer rebuilt tranny. It's my dd and tow rig, my truggy (when finished) and trailer will be close to 7500lbs...

Assuming gauges, am I safe with a #6 plate and the 3kgsk kit without risking early death of the tranny?

i would say so. just dotn mash it from red lights or stop signs all the time. ease up to speed and youll be ok. jiMMy

unless the rebuilder installed a performance torque converter which few do or an upgraded valve body you will be pushing your luck. i would say do the upgrade but make sure there is a warrantee on the bugger. :( Unfortunately it always seems like the rebuilders just use stock parts and those seem to more than 1/2 the time be insufficient especially if your on the hammer at all.

Some guys have gotten away with swapping to a billet torque converter and changing the valve body in the truck and not redoing the tranny. try calling Piers or DTT and tell them where you are at having a recent tranny rebuild and wanting it to live a little longer with a little more umph at the flex plate.

Next go around consider buying an ATS or DTT tranny night and day difference. also make sure you have a tranny temp gauge on that thing too.

Good luck and nice Scummins

gauges, plate, and a converter while you are *sure* the tranny is still fresh.
