Howie, Howie, Howie.......

The most important thing is that its Howie's Birthday Bash and a 4WD get together...

Howie automatically wins the stock class right...(We all know he can't drive)

That's right, Howiepalooza is a birthday celebration for Merle Howard, and active 4x4 enthusiast who resides in Iowa. Howie has been hosting the Howiepalooza for 7 years now. In 2005 we will be hosting the event at Disney, OK on May 7th through the 8th. There will be rock crawling competition on Saturday, trail rides all weekend long, and various fun events at camp.

No, I don't think he will even be in that class ;-)

So what is the deal Tolley? Looks like a new class? I guess I am in pro modified now, which concerns me a little. Do I need a role cage installed now to pass tech? Can I now flatbed the truck? Why the change from the last event?

I am not familiar with how your rig is setup. What puts you in the Pro class? is just tire size?
If you have a full top you might get away with no cage.

We changed it because this is a larger event with harder courses. There will be two different courses. Stock and Stock Mod will be on one, while pro and unlimited on another.

My truck is the Tacoma on the bottom of your flyer. Tire size, why have you set it at 36" when everyone else does the cut at 37"? I take it flat beds are legal now that Pro Modified does not have to have a production frame? To be honest its an odd way you have the classes sitting now. One thing being that the only major difference between the new Pro Modifed and Unlimited is the appearance must resemble a production vehicle. I am little ticked at these changes with little notice. "If you have a full top you might get away with no cage." That is not an acceptable answer, your the promoter and I need an answer. I am not doing what I did at your last event. You had in your rules that rigs had to have certain specificatoins to compete, so I went out and blew a load of money to make sure I complied with your rules. When tech inspection came around almost every rig in the stock modified class did not comply with your rules, and you still let them compete. I am unhappy now that I have to go spend more money and still not really know till the day of the event what rules you will inforce and what rules you will not. It makes it very hard to know if one is ready for a Tolly Services event.

I understand your concerns James. Setting classes for the rock crawling has to be the hardest part of these ventures. You have to understand what we are trying to do with the events we are promoting. My goal is to provide a venue that the average Joe can enter and compete instead of being locked out by high entry fees and way out of class competitors. I can be alot more strict on the classes and match the rules to the popular sanctions, but this would limit the field of competitors to nearly none, as the majority of wheelers in this area are just not built to suit the rules. Then the only choice is travel to a coast and pay several hundred dollars to compete.
We are flexible in the class rules to keep it open for more folks. We have tried in the past to be fair, and I am certainly trying to come up with a good set of guidelines. So I am willing to work with you any everyone. Tell me what you feel is a good plan for class rules. PM, e-mail, or discuss over a beer ;-)
I will take tire size out of the whole class rules if it causes a big issue. We want to group all types of vehicles together with other vehicles of similiar capabilites. With 4 classes instead of three we should be able to make a pretty even set of rigs in each class.

Yes, the plan to run multiple courses at once, should speed up the comp considerably, that is if the volunteers show up.

I plan on being there, and the new rules look good to me.

Tire size, why have you set it at 36" when everyone else does the cut at 37"?

Most stock mod classes have a cutoff at 35" not 37".

Don't miss the extreme action Saturday 5/7 evening after the rock crawl competition.
The Offroad Fabrication Network www.offroadfabnet.com, Tolly Tuff Fabrication www.tollyservices.com, and Tornado Alley Fabrications www.tornadoalleyfab.com are sponsoring the OFN Money Wall obstacle!

The OFN Money Wall is a timed course through some extreme terrain. Fastest time through the gates wins the pot.
Starting out with $100 in the kitty, each driver will get a chance to run for $5 a try which goes to increase the pot. You can try as many times you as you want.

So bring your rig down, gas it up, lets see what you got.
