This needs to be moved to the newbie forum. But no they are not full of crap. Back in the day with 33s and 4.10s i got 18/19 miles to the gallon.

Stick this crap in the newbie forum.

on these sights

Nice...... :flipoff2:

Grow some thick skin... and don't post dumb shit like this here. Post in the Newbie forum, or go back to JU if you really want your salad tossed. :grinpimp:

Seriously, you are driving what is basically a square box around.... that is powered by an engine that while give great torque, is not very effecient. 18/19 mpg is on the high side for sure. When I had 35"s and 4.88s, I would get about 14 on the highway.... 11-12 around town.

Nobody is being a jerk, this is quite tame. but you should really read the thread at the top. This is afterall Jeep Tech not Jeep Economy.

I likely get 2-3 mph while crawling around at 3.5K RPM's all day long. since this board is about rock crawlin' & not mall crusing that's all the info you'll get..... :shaking:

i just think it sucks that anyone can come on here ask a simple question and expect a simple anser and get nothing but some boared person like you that just sits on here waiting to make some coment besides the questiion
ive got 6 jeeps 3 seirous rockcrawlers 1 scrambler project , ive got a cj7 daily driver v8 chev d44 f&r arbs f&r 35s and it gets 8 mpg so i thought id but a newer tj for a daily driver because people said thay got 18 19 mpg and mine gets 13 , i drive a ton, like jeeps drive to moab alot in tj to do eaiser trails with famly, tow rocckcrawlers down when i go with friends to do hard trails, so if you want a vw for gas milage go buy one i dont, id rather have a jeep. get thick skin put up with boared people that sit on here all day and not anser a question. and hope someone on here is nice enough to anser a question or say howe to get better mpg out of a tj

Ok. Do you wanna buy my jeep? Since you seem to be the jeep police, maybe you could find a worthy buyer. But until that happens, let's consider this post reported and hope the moderators either move it, or this gets more entertaining and hits the top 10 list.

But here's an idea, why don't you go with stock gears and smaller tires? I think that's how *they* get 18-19 mpg. :shaking:

Or maybe you need one of those 100 mpg carbs that I read about that the big 3 won't use.

And if you read my first post i answered part of your question. When i drove my TJ daily it had 33s and 4.10 gears, 5 spd, no engine mods except homebrew open element conical filter to clear my OBA and i got 18-19 mpg. Keep your foot out of the gas if you want better mileage. Now get back to JU where you belong.

styer -- a word of advice if you ever want to get help from this large group of knowledgeable wheelers who don't give a flying fuck about gas mileage:

#1 log off

#2 cancel the styer account

#3 create a new account under a new username

#4 log back on to PBB

#5 don't post for 3 months -- read them, but don't let your fingers hit the keyboard

#6 when you think you have a handle on what goes here, then you should wade very carefully into the waters

Oh, and if you really want to know about gas mileage, you really need to go to www.jeepsunlimited.com -- they'll be happy to entertain your questions.

There's a thread almost exactly like this back in the archives. Maybe it'll help solve your problem.

Here it is (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/login.php?do=logout&u=41622)

That fucking K&N filter is robbing your gas mileage. Run no filter and it should pick back up.

Get smaller tires, lower it for better aerodynamics and swap in a civic motor.

Oh yeah, and make sure that when your little orange shift light comes on, you shift immediately!

Styer -- I clicked on your post because I knew what I would find and I was looking for some entertainment. Now re-read my previous post and take my advice.

Want better gas mileage? Get a thinner girlfriend. :flipoff2:

Remove your skid plates, bumpers, roll cage, soft/hard top, windshield, doors, etc. Should lose enough weight to get 19 mpg. :p

My TJ on 37s with 4.88s will get around 15 or so on the high way if I keep the tach under 3k with speeds normally around 65-75. That's with the soft top and full soft doors on too. I also have the 4spd auto.

Closer to stock, you can get better milage. With 3.73's and 31" tires, I'm getting 17mpg highway. Sell some of those Jeeps and buy some lessons in sentence structure and spelling. :flipoff2:

Then there would be the real tech way of pulling out the 4.0l and swapping in a cummins 4BT. Then you could expect high 20's with 35's.

But that would be fuel milage and not gas milage.
