: Does anyone have an ideal Dual rate coilover suggestion?

I have TJ with RE long arm and stock engine. I'm wondering if anyone has come up with what they think is the ideal dual coilover spring rate for the front end. I think the stock RE 5.5" springs are around 220 lbs. I don't think going with 2 450 lb. springs will work although the math works out close.

For 14" shocks, I'm thinking about 6" up travel and the rest down. Does anyone have a setup similar on this vehicle that they are happy with? Not for jumping sand dunes, more for crawling.

Thanks.

Sounds very stiff. A general rule of thumb is to have the coil length be 2x the shock travel...ie 14" x 2 = 28". If you want to run springs that stiff there is no way you can run springs that long which means they'll fall out on droop.

I ran 16" 200 and 12" 250 I think..I thin those are the lengths, and my adjuster was almost all the way up. I'm going to change to 250/300 with my new setup though.

Yeah, I know that 450/450 would be too stiff. I think I have a 14" 150 and 14" 250. I might try the 14" 250 and a 14" 375 like Roundy has. My Jeep is about the same setup. I just want to avoid having a collection of "Used Once" springs that I don't need. I've already sold enough stuff that I've bought and decided not to use!!

Any other suggestions? Thanx.

The place I got my springs from...the guy swaps them out for $5/coil if you want to change.
